It's time (Option to Hide other players Glamour)

It doesn't even make my top 10. Or 20. Or even 50. But I have started to see it for what it really is, and I don't approve. If I was a dev I might get a chuckle out of this thread myself.

So what is this thread "really about" in your oh so professional opinion?

Yes. It's trite.

I could get behind an option to just make everyone wear defacto gear to save on system resources in busy spots or such. There's logic behind that.

This though

What comes next? The option to hide all other players because your character is claustrophobic? The option to turn off Roes because they are too wide and get in my way? The option to turn off Miqote because furries offend me?

Get a grip. There are real problems that need to be addressed within this game and it's community. This is just a sad waste of people's time by comparison.

It really does feel like some people are starting to forget that this is an MMO.

If any of those options you listed didn't impact others play the I see no reason for them to not be implimented as well.

It's fascinating how some people are apparently deeply offended by the idea of personal tastes. Nobody is obligated to want to look at a character wearing silly glamour or overly revealing glamour.

I'm all for eye candy (as anyone who has seen some of my previous suggestions can attest to) but I'm also for more choice across the board. If some people want to block out specific glamour options, I say let them.

You don't have to agree with their reasoning. You don't even have to understand it. Though if you're genuinely for 'more options' then at least have the decency to be consistent about it.

In my opinion, it is largely about a small group of people who need to get over themselves while playing an MMORPG. There are many players from many backgrounds with varying tastes. Those tastes are not going to please everyone. That doesn't mean that they should be hidden because "I DUN LIKE IT!", which is most of this thread as a whole. Like I said before, welcome to life. Life will never be visually pleasing all the time, so people need to deal.

I'd say the people saying 'I don't like how these characters look please implement an option for me to not have to see these characters' are the ones offended by the idea of personal tastes. You want to be able to filter out the personal tastes of others and avoid being exposed to them.

Nobody is obligated to have to look at revealing glamour either.

And by "more options" does that mean I can request something that turns everyone into potted plants on my screen? Or the ability to use Assize on Red Mage? Those requests create more options and I think both sound pretty reasonable.

Actually, the fact that the game is a global title is more in support of filters being added for players to control their experience. Korea and China each have separate versions of the game that are adjusted to meet their laws and regulations.

The development team have also acknowledged that opinions and stances differ in regards to matters such as gender locked gear and that some people may wish to shy away from such things and politely excuse themselves. Which is perfectly reasonable, especially when it comes to things such as lalafell dressed in very revealing attire...given that they're designed to resemble children.

I wouldn’t mind having an option like this available. Though, I wouldn't make it apply to just glamor. I would make the filter apply to all equipment and make the filter default to racial gear or something basic.

I would like an option like this for mainly a different reason than originally proposed. I personally do not find men wearing dresses shocking… it was shocking maybe in 1992 when Nirvana did it. I also don’t find women wearing bikinis immersion breaking… just boring instead.

I would rather have some sort of option available for me to use when I find myself in certain situations where people’s glamour and sometimes gear choices makes me unable to see their characters. It isn’t a monitor problem or a program problem… it is operator (ie: me) problem.

Here is an example: in Mt. Gulg, there’s that “white area”, starting with the wall enemies. When I play, I like to play on WHM. Now, my dummy self sometimes forget to glamour up prior to queueing and I get placed into Mt. Gulg… with my WHM in all white (it still has all visual pieces, minus the body, with the 430 job specific gear). Enough white for me to get my own character lost in those walls and some of that white environment. I can be looking directly at my character and lose them. Sometimes I just notice my character's face because she is a color and shade that is contrast to the environment.

I have taken proactive steps and have things prepared such as colored glasses to help filter out certain colors, greyscaling my monitor, changing luminosity, etc. I also tend to have “unusual” choice in glamour and colors so that I can see my character. There’s times when I do not have those items available nor the option to make changes to my end.

Also, yes, I will be looking at health bars most of the time, but I will also be looking to where party members are in relation to me, and a health bar cannot really tell me how far away someone from Medica II’s range. Yes, I can just look for their name, though I would rather be able to look for both their name and their character respectively.

I would like the option as another tool in my arsenal so I can be a better team player. I would like to just turn on the filter long enough for where I need it and I can turn it off when I don't need it.

Life this and life that. You do realize this is a video game right? Options to remove things that offend others sensibilities already exist in the form of the profanity filter. That's what makes video games so great: if there's something that isn't liked, it can be changed.

If enough people got together and decided that some of glamours in the game were too inappropriate and they knew who's ear to whisper into, you can bet things would be changed.

Cloud, Squall, Tera, Zidane didn't spend the ENTIRE game fighting the forces of opposition in a string bikini with summer sunglasses.

You get to live your best life being a fem ro wearing a sailor outfit tanking with a fish in your main hand, and I get to play the game without being disgusted looking at you!

The specificness of calling out summer sunglasses + a string bikini and femroes feels a bit funny here, since for the duration of the moogle tome event I've been running prae every day as a femroe wearing summer sunglasses + the old blue striped bikini.

Now I'm curious if the OP was in one of those prae runs and just hated my sense of style.
