I suggest doing a forum search in GD using the keywords fanart or fan creation, I know we have a few floating around that people used to use although I think most people just put their stuff on reddit nowadays. And the only thing that would get you in trouble regarding fan art is if it was NSFW in some fashion but otherwise posting in General is considered fine.
