Yes lets leave real world politics at the door. Politics introduced by the game are fine but real world no...HELL NO!!..
As i said before, if they really wish to do that, go for it. I think it's against the spirit of MMOs to blacklist such stuff and since asian players love to show off what they have, like with the housing, i don't think this option will ever come. But i still feel more bad about people who are ready to blind themself just because they can't stand the reality. That is also more a general thing, we can see that in so many different groups and not only here. If you really can't tolerate other people...maybe you shouldn't play MMOs. Not because it bothers me but it sounds unhealthy to be bothered by such trivial stuff.Nobody within this thread is telling anybody how to dress. They simply do not wish to see certain things on their screen - which is fair enough. There's all sorts of different reasons as to why that may be the case. The only people trying to dictate things are those who are falsely trying to claim that is an attack upon their very identity. It'd be a different matter if people were petitioning for the complete removal of specific glamour options altogether. They're not, though - they're simply petitioning for a compromise. Which in turn brings about another option for people to enjoy the game in the manner in which they wish to.
But as sad as i think it is, people have also the right to censor themself.
Like I keep repeating, just look away. It's that simple, if they don't want to see it just look away. Majority of the time people won't even be looking at party members, they'll be too busy looking at their hotbars, party list, watching out for mechanics, and/or paying attention to the boss/mobs anyway. They'll be too busy talking and interacting with NPCs to bother noticing what other people wear. You have to be actively looking at others to even notice what they wear.
People are choosing to be upset about what others wear, when it's entirely preventable. Which is why this option will very likely never be implemented. It's not psychologically harming people now more than when the first "immersion" breaking glamour item was released or even when the bunny suits were ungenderlocked.
Which begs to question, why is the OP asking for this NOW when they should have asked for this when the very first "immersion" breaking glamour was released?
Edit: Can we also have an option that disables Paissa houses, chocobo houses, moogle houses and otter houses? Those are so immersion breaking it's impossible to stay in the housing wards for too long, ugh.

Even though I've dabbled in discussion on values, I wholeheartedly agree with this. Every medium seems to be getting more and more politicized as well as polarized, last thing I'd want is that gaming communities follow suit. This is supposed to be a place where I can escape from all that crap.
Someone being against it would be complaining on certain dresses to make them being unavailable to everyone in the game. You missed the point and this is a really hollow argument you have there. I mean i can understand you, from a rhetoric viewpoint you want to beat me in that discussion but maybe try it within the context.
People often get wrong what the difference between tolerance and being active against something is. It's like irl, everyone has (up to a certain point) the freedom of expression. Means a guy can wear a pink shirt and even if you think it's a female color and disgusting you are obliged to tolerate it. Tolerating it doesn't mean you have to like it, doesn't mean you have to keep your mouth shut about it. It means you don't grab the next bat and beat that poor guy up for wearing that shirt. That is what modern society is about, it's not your business what other people wear and if you don't like it look in the other direction.
You are always obliged to tolerate (if it isn't harmful towards you), that's on what our western laws are based on. You can't beat the crap out of other people just you don't like their style. You can always talk about it tho. So it's more a morale thing we talk about, opression should never be an answer. Ofc you can choose to not tolerate stuff like that here and be active against it, there were many people in history who had the same mindset and i think you don't want to be one of them over a bunch of virtual clothes.
And again, i think you are smart enough to understand my point and next time you answer you give a proper answer, hopefully. ^^
IRL you dont have physical option to hide someone so we have to get used to and tolerate it, because people wearing something we dont like wont just disappear, but even irl you cant wear everything you wont go to work in thongs and nothing else on you, do you? In game you could have the option, its possible to implement and i really dont understand why are you against someone just turning others glam on their own client, they already could do it with mods then why do you care?
Nothing will take your freedom away from you, you wont even tell if someone is using it, why are you comparing it to beating someone with stick is beyond me, its non intrusive thing making game more friendly to everyone, it will significantly reduce prejudice and drama among players. And nope we cant call someone else in game and criticize their outfit, because it could get us banned.
We cant interact with others in the same way we could do irl, thats another argument why this toggle button should be implemented asap.
Maybe not most, but big part of them sure.![]()

Would be nice. I play also World of Tanks and you can hide other people's camos and skins, like i can hide a purple tank which does not fit in my opinion. It's a choice everyone can make. I don't see why someone would be against it unless they deliberately wan't to wear outfits to annoy others
By the same token if this option were to be available the opponents could be told to just "ignore the fact it exists". You don't have to think about the fact that some people can't see your glamour if you don't specifically concentrate on it.Like I keep repeating, just look away. It's that simple, if they don't want to see it just look away. Majority of the time people won't even be looking at party members, they'll be too busy looking at their hotbars, party list, watching out for mechanics, and/or paying attention to the boss/mobs anyway. Seems like the addition of yet another thing they might not want to see or that might be incongruous or themebreaking was introduced, possibly reinforcing the desire to bring up the topic. This isn't a new idea and has several old threads about it even on reddit, it resurfaces usually when there's a new nontraditional glamour available.
I am no content judge so as to say what is odd or off-putting to the rest of the playerbase, but it doesn't take a bigot to see that some glamours are likely more polarizing or irregular than others.
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
I mean, can't really argue that yes, a client side glamour application wouldn't be as terrible as people think, but at the same time, there are much better things the resources for adding such an option could be used for, and it might take up more resources to implement this idea than you think.

And yet it hurts nobody if someone post it. Ignore threads if they have useless wishes but let others discuss these things if they want you. This does not in any way force SE do implement it. Also we probably should not talk about them using ressources for that when we have stuff like LoV or even soon Umbrellas in the game..nice to have them but seemingly they worked three years on it?It doesn't matter how much merit the option has if it's simply not possible or really practical at the time.
I mean I can suggest they release 20 dungeons every patch and 5 new classes every expansion, but that's not even remotely close to being an option that could be implemented if enough people rallied behind it or thought it was a good idea.
