Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

You can still support the addition of male viera and more character options for the existing races at the same time.

Having the missing genders FIRST might actually help their customization issues in the long run. As Viera would no longer be tied to Hrothgar as far as customization is concerned (which we can agree Hroths are worse off). Having the opposite genders as their counterparts instead of Viera/Hroth might help the dev team tackle the issues (inability for Hroth hairstyles to be changed without Fantasia, limited hairstyles for both, the headgear situation...) individually.

That's some crazy mental gymnastics you'd have to do to actually believe that. From a coding and design aspect, the two are not directly connected in any way. Adding the other genders would only add to the burden of current issues, especially if they were equally unfinished. Adding them wouldn't suddenly make things easier, but more burdensome and likely reduce the chance of the hair issues ever being fixed.

Support both if you like, but pretending them being added will magically fix current issues is just silly.

I'm not too bothered by the limited hairstyles, so I'd prefer to see the missing genders implemented first. I'm also hoping for an expansion of character customisation across the board - since the original races are sorely in need of some polish at this point. If there's at least one hairstyle that I like the look of, I'm happy - in no small part due to many of the hairstyles just not being my cup of tea in the first place.

I'd be bothered if they release the second half of the races, and still haven't updated viera at that point!

It would be kind of ridiculous if they released males, and again said they will add more later, I'd rather not see a repeat of it myself. It's like the trend with companies nowadays, release first "finish" later.

As much as I hate that female Viera and Hrothgar still do not have any kind of new (or old) hairstyles implemented, I have to agree with Theodric. At least female Viera and male Hrothgar are ingame. The same can not be said about the missing genders sadly. Patching in headgears and hairstyles can always be done at a later time and do not take as many ressources as new races. But I absolutely understand that many players are unhappy about the headgear and hairstyle situation. I would be displeased as well.

I never said it'd make the CODING easier. From a PR perspective if you give Viera access to hairstyles and headgear and you leave Hrothgar stuck with the same hairstyles and, worse, still make them use a Fantasia to change their hair, it looks bad.

However, when male and female Viera and Hroth exist concurrently, they're being compared to EACH OTHER, not to the OTHER RACE. So Hroth's dependency on Fantasia can be tackled wether Viera gets new hair or not.
