I don't see a problem with something like this and am frankly surprised so many are so against it. I mean umbrellas are fine but this would be a waste of resources? You people are silly

I think the option to hide wouldn't harm anybody and if they use the class gear I think that would be fine, at least make it so in cutscenes where we see other players beside us. Like you about to fight the Ultima weapon with a frog, a moogle, a chocobo and pig behind you. Yeah what will show Gaius not to mess with us!
Honestly, it's no different than the profanity filter. Profanity is how some people "Express themselves." And we as players have the option of weather or not we see it. Sometimes, how you express yourself is abrasive, offensive, down right inflammatory, or simply immersion breaking. No one has a problem with the profanity filter, so why would this similar option be a problem?
Okay, I’ve only skimmed through this topic, but I don’t think I see anyone pointing out that glamours are literally canon considering the unlock quest and prisms being part of some quests. Taking that into account, it’s really not that immersion-breaking to see tanks in regular clothes because they don’t want to stand out (or feel like they’re wearing heavy armir depending if the glamour also affects one’s sense of touch). Heck, it’s not implausible for tanks to make their armor look like skimpy clothing just for the hell of it (or they just want to show off their bod while also still receiving protection).
If you look at it from this perspective, it’s just another day in the weird world of Adventurer Land. Idk, I can understand why some people want this feature but at the same time......I don’t want anyone seeing the horrendous garbage I am covering with elegant gear just because they think my glam is inappropriate and “immersion-breaking” for a monk. Lr literally any arbitrary reason. Honestly, I don’t even see that many naked people anyway, but maybe that’s because I’m on Zalera so what do I know?
Regardless, how the heck this feature would work without borking the code is probably more trouble than the devs would care to touch.
Just need option to hide other players that's not in your party. That make hunts a lot easier being able to hide other players.
I honestly cannot imagine what it's like to be drowning in such a sense of entitlement and completely lack the self-awareness to realise how utterly absurd this sentiment is. It must truly be a burden to be forced to witness how autonomous entities adorn themselves and "deal with" it. What, exactly, is "dealing with" the appearance of a person, who is not you, anyway?
By the Gods, SQEX! Intervene and help these poor, downtrodden people who can see how other people dress! It's not fair!!!
No, catering to that kind of mentality is not, and would not be, healthy for the game or its community. Especially since commonly cited grievances toward this end almost always involve stuff like "I don't want to see men wear dresses!" and all the baggage that typically entails. It's telling enough that this fake problem seems to only become this horrible, and suddenly major and urgent, issue when they remove a gender restriction. Absolute nonsense.
If you don't like how a person, separate from you, dresses, that's your own personal problem. Calling for SQEX to erase it for you is asinine.
neat. Then let's get rid of the profanity filter. When I call you nasty, disgusting names; it's just my way of expressing myself! Also, get off your high horse it's disgusting. You keep trying to imply I have some moral imparative to see you traipsing about in a cowboy hat and booty shorts. I don't.I honestly cannot imagine what it's like to be drowning in such a sense of entitlement and completely lack the self-awareness to realise how utterly absurd this sentiment is. I would say that glamours aren't "canon" in the sense that, unless it's a quest/class related piece of gear, no character reacts to what you're wearing. If you roll up in a man-kini and Namazu head no NPC exclaims something like "what an...interesting outfit you've chosen." Just because it's a side quest doesn't make it part of the world as a whole. It's a grey area of existing within the game, but only as something as a game function, not as a world function.Okay, I’ve only skimmed through this topic, but I don’t think I see anyone pointing out that glamours are literally canon considering the unlock quest and prisms being part of some quests. Gamers don't die, we just go AFK

Imagine comparing verbal abuse and abusive treatment to someone wearing the clothes they like and not only thinking they're actually analogous, but believing it is somehow a counter to, and not a perfect example of, what I was talking about in that quote.
The similarity being that both of the examples mentioned are a form of forcing someone to endure your form of expression. Yet the profanity can be silenced while your hideous outfits can't. It's ironic to me that you played the entitlement card just because a person doesn't want to see someone in a frog suit dancing in front of their face. Aren't you the entitled one, getting upset over the possibility that someone would have an option to not gaze upon your glorious glamour?
If I created a work of art, I wouldn't force everyone to look upon it. That's just inconsiderate. Perhaps some people can't take a fight seriously when there's a chocobo-headed, thong-bearing, bare chested catboy standing beside them.
