Yup, Comcast here. It's been pretty decent compared to the old days, but tonight is bringing back memories of the bad old days where it was always impossible to play anything during primetime.

What I've noticed is whenever there's massive lag it's almost always the instance servers.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

Tried playing for a bit today. Dc'ed a couple of times (which never happens, nowadays), and menus were hard to open, people were moving like a powerpoint slideshow. Not as bad as the rest of you, but I still can't do much with this lag :c
I don't know if anyone else I know has been experiencing the same thing, as I play during dead hours and most of them are on during prime time, sooo....

Easiest ways you can check if you are experiencing this awful lag:
Access the Marketboard and see it takes a much while longer to load or fails to load repeatedly
Go to your retainers and see how long it takes for them to load their menus
Test on a training dummy and see if there is a big delay in your skills
If you have one of the three happen it's the delay caused by the NTT and it's an ISP issue. SE has been at fault at times, but the majority is sadly how your ISP handles everything.
I was tanking in Orbonne and I was worried the lag would cause me to fail a tank mechanic and wipe our group. Thankfully it all worked out but that stuff is absolutely obnoxious.

I'm not on Comcast, but while it was never bad enough to d/c me I did notice some pretty nasty lag spikes from time to time last night. Several other friends I was in voice chat with mentioned they were also having problems. Of course, we found this out while trying to do a run or two of E4S to shake off some rust before the new patch...

Is this lag still going on? I've had it for several days now, and I absolutely can not do content while time is frozen.

Not just Comcast. I have AT&T and lag was terrible. I play on EU server as well and other players with EU based ISPs were having same lag issues. Had to disband a run of Copied Factory after first boss because the entire alliance was lagging.FWIW, based on comparing notes with folks in my FC, everyone who had the terrible connection problems was on Comcast. Those of us not on Comcast—on Verizon or Qwest or CenturyLink or whatever—were all fine. Moreover, one who connected via a performance gaming VPN was fine through _that_ since they were coming out of a non-Comcast address on the other side of the VPN.
I suspect there's a boundary router between Comcast and NTT upstream from the servers that's gone haywire.

I'm not on Comcast, and been having some weird lag spikes tonight. Got stuck staring at the first terminal in Prae for long enough to think I'd DC'd, only to be spammed with chat messages and exp when everything caught up. Everything else seems to be working alright though.

I've been having bad lag spikes sporadically for a week on Spectrum. Just took me 10 seconds to mount up in Yanxia. Running resource monitor shows the game as having a mostly stable 90-105ms ping, even when things get "laggy". It use to be mostly in instances like 8+ man's but now it's starting to happen everywhere. I don't want to tank or heal because I'm sure I'll end up derping and getting killed or letting people die.
