Nah, if it was common knowledge not to repair anyone's gear for them for if to me, the repairer, said "Hmm, the reward seems too outlandish, allow me to report this person to a GM, so that the proper channels can direct this fellow to a correct reward amount, but I shall not tell them, less the reward be true and I be made the fool!"
I'm sure if we all thought like that, it would be fine.
But instead, first I repair it, I collect my reward, and once one receives a a rather large reward, one usually celebrates, none of this "Haha, I stole that guys money just now."
But then, to call me a GM on me, then call me a thief, after doing nothing wrong, herp derp, man is the system sure wrong when I can reported and demonized for simply playing the game.
Sure I understand he was tired, but you don't start blaming the guy you hit after you fell asleep at the wheel, and from what I understand he still received SOME of the money back, unless I'm confused of course. Even in the days of FFXI, if someone miss-bid on certain items, every once in a while you'd be able to hear a wonder story about him getting his money back (Don't you guys dare stand up here and say "NO, FFXI community was perfect! They'd always give back whats not theirs!"), cause lets just say I even paid 500k for a stack of earth crystals, yet did I up on a high horse and say, "Hear ye hear ye! If you stole 500k from me give it back!" Cause then you'd just have a confused group of Jeuno folks.
Cause when I hear the word thief, I think of person A is scamming Person B. Not Person B made a mistake that benefited person A. Unless... Nick Zealot broke into the OP's account and put all his money into one repair...
But I think looking at those logs, it all could have been avoided if he didn't threaten to call a GM on him so quickly, soon as someone threatens to sue me, as a reasonable person, I'd stop talking to that person until proper authority looks things over and issues a rightful claim.Oh btw, take the wrong stance here, seems like you are disgusting in a certain someone's eyes~
I look forward to your continued guidance Matsume, if only they allowed it possible to know when we were quoted, I'd like to hear each and everything you had to say about me. If I were true garbage of this world, I'd have it no other way.
You are the first person to use the word "Hang" in the 10 pages preceding. Blacklisting and Hanging people are not the same thing. You are putting words in our mouths. This is defamation. GTFO.
The problem isnt the "one side of the story".
The problem is all the people who defended the act of the thief, based on the story they heard.
What does this tell me about them?
That theyre as untrustworthy as the thief.

If I didn't know any better, it seems that a certain someone is just trolling. o:
But the OP is asking for a staff member to pass judgement on his case. But I see what you mean. If I knew there was a war criminal in my neighborhood, I sure wouldn't invite him to my luncheons.
Hang is just a term used for when people blindly want someone to be the bad guy. I Don't mean a real hanging. Goes back to the days of public hanging. Where people didn't care who the person was or what he did as long as they were hung they were fine. Such as you calling everyone heartless and telling us to leave. You don't know anything about me or my character. Yet you think I'm this bad guy for giving this nick person a Chance to defend himself. You seriously want to talk about morals and whats right in wrong? Yet here you are openly judging me and everyone else. Just because we don't go crazy and wanting this person to be a bad guy because another person says they are.
Edit: As I and others have said. We are not defending his actions. I would and have given the money back when it has happened to me. but i don't expect everyone to. From what I seen from the OP nick is in the wrong. But until i see both sides i won't pass judgment.

Agreed, none of our business, but it would be our business if it would happen to us.
That is why we are trying to reach out to Fabul people that know these 2 and can help get it resolved. If this guy Nick did take the gil and he won't give it back then he is not the type of player I would like to play with, no matter what you guys say.
Character is very important to me in a game like this, where you play to relax and have fun. ^^
Before we dig too deep into he said and she said situation, here it what the chat logs shows
referencing to the first image of the chat logs, lines 1, 5 and 9
>>Nick Zealot: nick I want my money back pls
>>Nick Zealot: that was a mistake
>>Nick Zealot: <<Hello!>>?
As you could see he asked politely first, and some time has past before he raised it to the higher authority. None of those lines are threatening. Even if you take into account that Nick might not understand what "pls" means, all those lines are attempting to open a conversation.
line 10;
>>Nick Zealot: if you do not reply, i will contact the GM about this
Within all that time, Nick did not reply, not even to say <Hello!> back. Thus, Hobbes took it to the authorities as the next step.
If you take a look at the log, you can clearly see time has past with the intermediate /tells Hobbes had by mistake with another person. If some other player had time to reply to Hobbes, why didn't Nick reply in all that time? Even if Nick didn't understand English that well, the <<Hello!>> would at least have indicated he wanted to open a conversation.
That whole initial bit just seems too odd to me for someone who apparently intended to give back all the gil.

But the way it may possibly go is that people on Fabul will see this, and spam poor ole Nick for how ever long this topic remains a hot topic to "Give him his money back you thief!" maybe even after they privately settle this matter without announcing to us forum. But I'm sure I am just looking at it from goggles of a person who doesn't reside on Fabul, cause on my world, it's like that movie "The Book of Eli" But 10 times worst. /joke xDAgreed, none of our business, but it would be our business if it would happen to us.
