To anyone from SE or the Developer Team I need your help in a theft situation

Hello to the Developers who may be so kind in helping me with this problem. I am Hobbes Graywyrd from the Fabul server. I am sorry for this is going to be a rather long post but I was placed in a dire situation where I had no options left and couldn't find a reasonable solution. So I found this might be appropriate to find a feasible solution.

It started on January 21, 2012 around 2 am Pacific Standard Time in the city-state, Ul'dah. I was dead tired and wasn't really watching what I was doing. I placed an item for repairs instead of a transaction. We all know having the exceeding amount for a transaction amount wasn't going to be sold and it was worth valuable to the player. The transaction was made for my entire gil that I owe. It was an honest mistake of mine and I regretfully will not do it again. The guy who repaired my item is name Nick Zealot. He was a guy I happened to be in an experience party on the same night. He was a good guy and wanted to learn Japanese until I figure out what he was all about. I had asked nicely if he could return my money back. He didn't reply back at all and I waited for a while. He wasn't AFK, he was much active and was talking or gloating about what has happened and how much gil he received to his LS mates. I asked nicely and apologized if I can have my gil back only to find he wouldn't reply back at all. I know it might be wrong of me to do since I threaten to call a GM and ask because since I had no reply back at all, what was I supposed to do? I am left with no gil at all. This made him angry when I said I was going to call GM. He didn't reply back at all. He was clearly adamant to keep the money I own. He was talking plentiful during the experience party but he wouldn't talk to me about what just happened? I found this to be suspicious and shady on his part. He logged off 20 min later. I went to go figure out who his friends were by checking what LS's he was under. I asked a friend of his named Junrk Suye telling me I had to be nice to him in order to get my money back. Ok. Junrk stated he was going to give me back 10 or 11 million gil back and he would keep the rest. I said and thinking to myself this is extortion. I earned and worked hard in the money I made in this game. How would you react when you suddenly lost your money by an accident or was swindled by? Isn't this breaking the user agreement right here when you're trying to negotiate and cause grief to a player of his money?

Enclose are the screenshots on what happened and the conversations between Junrk when he was the middle man when Nick chooses not to talk to me through tells.

(Through each tell I gave to him, I waited for a reply back. I waited for over 5 min and received no reply at all.)

The only time Nick talks to me is when he decides to extort money that I earned and wanted me to shout as an apology. I know of my mistake that I did not have over 14 million but instead he did say through his friend that he screenshot of what he got was 13.7 million. Ok. I was fine with that. He had proof but I wasn't trying to gain more money out of him. I was dead tired and wanted to resolute all of this. That's the money he got through me. Alright, though I still wanted my money back. I tried again through tells to see if he would be so kind in returning but he chose to ignore me instead. I wasn't sure what else I was supposed to do. So I had no choice to call a GM to inquire about the problem. The GM response was an automated one and to go to the following URL to seek support about this matter. I wasn't sure how to make of this since there was no help on what to do upon this matter.

More hours later like around 10 or 11 pm PST on the same day, I tried again when he was online and asked nicely if he could return the money I earned and still will not reply back to me. Much later, I received a tell from another friend of his telling me the following:

I'm not sure if this friend of his understand what is going on and using the situation to seem like they're confused to have it at their advantage to keep the money. I was confused on how he/she use the context in their words. I made Nick Zealot mad when I told him I was going to call a GM but how was I supposed to react when my money is taken from me and he is not replying at all. It seem shady and conspicuous to me.

So I am asking the developer team or someone from SE to help me out and examine this conflicting situation. It is obviously I made a mistake on my part when I placed the item on seek repairs for a huge sum of money. What I'm curious about is why would the guy who repair it not say anything about it and keep to himself instead? Is it greed or being selfish? The only time he would talk to me was to negotiate on money arrangements. It was then I knew from that point he had other intentions besides resolute the problem at hand. What could be done about this?

I know this is a lesson to be learned and of course on my part as it is my mistake. For those who are reading this long post, I am hoping you understood what was going on and see things clearly under my perspective of what was going on. I am hoping there are others who won't come to this problem either as I do not wish it upon them. But I believe mistakes can be rectified and this is why I have been trying to contact him.

When something in real life is lost and you found it, would you keep it or give it back to his/her owner?

Again Nick, if you are reading this, I am asking you to please do the right thing and return my money back please.

The repair was legal. There is nothing SE can do about it since it's your mistake not his. If you think u can get back every single gil you lost, then I bet you will get back 0 gil. Be thankful he is giving you 11mil because the gil is rightfully his now.

I'm sorry to hear what has happened to you, but unfortunately this is not extortion or griefing. Since he didn't play any part in helping you or encouraging you to make the mistake, there's probably not anything that can be done. MMOs are ripe with stories of folks who have lost gil or items by making mistakes such as yours, and you should consider yourself to be extremely lucky he returned as much of it as he did.

Certainly it would be nice of him to return all the gil, but there's unfortunately there's nothing that requires him to do so.

What he did wasnt against User agreements or such.

U did not pay attention and he made a bunch of Gil out of a single repair.
Good day for him, bad one for you. Shit happens.

Sure, he isnt a nice guy, but theres nothing SE can do against this.

Next time u may pay more attention.

Edit: After reading ur chatlog about "stealing" and "callin GMs", i wouldnt have returned a single gil to you...

So this guy got a someone's money, and they're upset--anyone would be! I don't think demanding public humiliation is a very classy move, whether or not you actually intend to give back the money. Just seyyin'.

14,000,000 vs 10,000 even with lag how in the hell do you make that big of a mistake. I'm sorry but its not theft. All I can say is a lesson learned and be more careful next time. Don't expect everyone to be nice.

From the moment the repair happend it wasn't your gill anymore. You should have been happy with anything the guy would offer to return to you and take the rest of your loss as punishment for your stupid mistake.

I take it since he is treating this like actual theft this can be used in real life to? damn i work at a grocery store and one day this woman gave me $100 by accident when she only owed me $10. I kindly gave her $90 back cause she gave me $90 extra, but are you guys saying that next time someone comes in and grossly overpays i can just keep the money and say, sorry old grandma u where an idiot to overpay? and i get to keep the money? and its completely legal? omfg thx guys im gonna be so rich im gonna start stealing............um helping people with there groceries as soon as i go back to work tomorrow ^.^ (sarcasm if u didnt git it, -.- internet is not good medium for sarcasm ppl needs to fix that)

Reminds me of that episode of Family Guy where they get rich cause the government screwed up and gave Peter $150,000 a week. I dont understand in the end of that show he went to court cause appareantly what he did was "illegal" he did nothing wrong it was the governments fault for being idiots and mistakingly doing that, i mean obviously people are suppose to be 100% accurate at there jobs 100% of the time he should of been able to keep all that money and keep getting the $150,000 a week for as long as he was on wellfare. Right?.................im right right?

your example doesn't work in this case. You see at the grocery store and real life Items have set prices and we have these things called Change. In-game there is no change, and the seller chooses the prices of said items.
So in this case the price of the repair was 14mil.
