I'm seeing this repeated over and over again in this thread. Why is saying hello or what not such a big deal to everyone???

I mean, I couldn't care less who says hi or bye. Let's just get the dungeon done as fast as possible. If I'm looking for a more social experience, I'll run something with my FC.

It's not really about being social. It's rare you find a pug that will chatter in chat. Though those are always the BEST when you do. They are frequently the funniest and most enjoyable runs I have. It's more about acknowledging your party members though.

By greeting everyone you're acknowledging they're part of your party, and therefore important, for the duration of the dungeon, and by shooting off a quick thanks or GG or whatever at the end you're thanking the party as a whole for helping you get through content you can't do on your own. That kind of acknowledgment feels good to a lot of people, and for a very great many is considered basic courtesy. That's why a lot of folks emphasize it. Runs where no one speaks a single word tend to be miserable feeling experiences for most.

Well, the fact that I can see your names in the top left corner of my screen is a pretty good indication we're all in a party. No further acknowledgement is necessary.

I guess I'm just a guy that enjoys the silence. I find a lot of chatting kind of annoying. Unless, like I said, I'm running something with my FC. Then I'm super chatty and we're all messing around and making jokes and solving the world's problems. But in a pug? Cut, print, and move on.

I will say, that if there's a sprout in the group, or someone says they don't remember something, I'll chime in with some advice on what mechanics to look out for. Sometimes I'll even say "I don't remember this." And a funny conversation might ensue. There was one time while doing Odin, we wiped. I said in chat we need to get the spears down. The second attempt was fine and we downed him. I was surprised to see that I received all seven comms in that party.

My performance wasn't particularly noteworthy, but I'm guessing it was because out of the entire run I was the only one to say something, and it was guidance on how to complete the trial. So, in situations like that, I can see why it was appreciated.

Because it makes the party feel like a party.

Because it's a MMO. Otherwise I'd just play a single player game with npcs. And honestly, for you it might be all about just being done with it, for me (and for many others it seems) making the run enjoyable counts. And I'll take an enjoyable run, no matter the rewards, any day over a lifeless boring one with huge rewards.

Because players these days are mostly bad, so as to answers OP's question, courtesy gets a comm if there is nothing else. Not sure why it is so hard to say Hi? lol to each their own
