Works! /10charI knew I should have just done a tutorial from the start, but I was lazy. =P
This should work, but I'm afraid I only have the 64-bit version of the driver.

I wrote a guide to installing and configuring the driver, it even has pictures.
I've gotten this to work for two people in my linkshell so I don't see why it wouldn't work for everyone.
Baring 32-bit users there should be no problems with this driver as long as you follow the directions down the the last detail.
For everyone not using an Xbox 360 wireless controller, I'm sorry, but this driver will not work for you as it was specifically designed for that controller =\
Next best thing I can recommend is MotionJoy.
I started with a xbox controller and had the same issue, frustrated i bought a logitech wireless controller for pc and it works just fine.
I do not have any issues with my logitech wireless controller.
A heads-up for anyone following this thread: as of 1.20, the XBOX wireless controller (and presumably any controller that was having a problem before) now WORKS! You can turn on the controller in-game and it picks up seamlessly.
For me, this makes a huge difference, thanks to those who saw it through!
I used a ps3 controller and motionjoy over bluetooth. When the controller went to sleep(after 5min), when I brought it back, the game would not recognize it, and I'd have to restart the game. However, this was never an issue with my logitech dual action wireless controller. I have not tried my ps3 controller since 1.20, though, so I'll have to reinstall all that to see what happens. Hopefully it's fixed.

2x Intel 520 180gb SSD's in Raid0 - 3x 28" LCD @ 5760x1200
the same thing happens with a wired control, so changing to wire wont help.

Just tested this..when the controller fell asleep and I turned it back on..no response in the game...:/A heads-up for anyone following this thread: as of 1.20, the XBOX wireless controller (and presumably any controller that was having a problem before) now WORKS! I'm sorry to hear that.. it's been working for me (without fail) since 1.20 launched. Only thing I can think of it maybe it has something to do with the computer's technical specs. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. You?
