Couldn't swing a dead night elf in Orgrimmar without hitting gold sellers last time I was on WoW. Of course, that was a few years ago now, before Blizzard started sellinggoldgame time tokens themselves and cut out the middle man.

From my time playing WoW, the RMT bots were lucky to get off more then a single spam message before they got banned.
Granted, they always come back sooner or later but it's better then just ignoring them all day like in XIV.
Pretty much. They became the gold sellers
This thread just made me think of SE's solution to RMT in FFXI, and it was really funny to me. For the longest time, the way RMT made gil was to fish off the coasts in random zones with level 1 characters to vendor all of the fish and trash items they picked up. SE fought this by creating a mob named "Goblin Bounty Hunter" that would pat along all of the coastline. The Bounty Hunters were higher level then most mobs in the zone, but most importantly they ran at Flee speed, so they were really efficient at nailing all of the bots fishing out in the wild. It was incredibly funny watching these goblins go to town on the RMT before they figured out what was going on and what to do it about it.
Fair warning, the music in both of these are kinda cringe and very loud. I suggest turning your volume down before opening and destroying your hearing.
Just to give an idea about how bad it was: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNCCVF3uJIA
Really, you only need to see about 30 seconds or so of that to get an idea.
Sometimes, players decided to dish out justice before SE put out the Goblin Bounty Hunters, and it was really funny.

Open world pvp would not fight bots but give an ability to insta kill players. They could teleport 20 bots in place and burst you down in less than 1 sec.
What this game really needs is to give us sub token to sell and buy.

Hmm, I hope they're doing it for farming, and not to spam Crystarium and Eulmore with RMT Gil ads. I avoid Limsa because of them..
I'm from 1 MS in the future.
The regularity with which I see mentors in Novice Network botting makes me really wish I could remove them without fear of punishment for a "wrongful" kick because the GMs/STF haven't done squat despite me reporting them multiple times.
I've observed them at length, and their routine is basically to clear the ARR MSQ as quickly as possible by only doing mandatory quests and passing any EXP walls by spamming dungeons. Once they actually clear the MSQ, they just start spamming Amdapor Keep to farm gil from the trash mobs before the first boss until they inevitably get banned.
Some groups of farmers optionally choose to clear all of the level 50 dungeon sidequests for the chunk of gil they offer, but that seems to have started falling out of favor as of late.
I've also seen ones that will actually buy a job skip ASAP (This is evident from some of them being in full ironworks gear) then do the MSQ from scratch at level 50 to blaze through it even faster.
They really have the gil farming down to an art at this point.

I would like to note you can only boost to level 70. You can't boost to 60 anymore and 50 was never possible.
You're actually seeing them grind up to 50, then farm the gear, which is even more concerning.
