ADD GLAMOUR EFFECTS SETTINGS

Thanks for being one of the few people who actually understood the original post. Turning on/off battle effects doesn't affect other players nor do they know if I'm using the feature. The same would be true for a glamoured effects setting.

Just because we don't see it doesn't mean we are not affected. Just knowing that a system would be in place that will change the appears of your character is uncomfortable. it would feel that this option is just to censorship how your character look like from other point of view.

As for the OP's topic; it's absolutely legitimate to want something that will display unglamoured or AF sets rather than glamour on your client. Seeing some of the glamours out there, there are times when I would like to not see them. That being said, the game is heavily designed around the anime aesthetic where characters often go into intense combat in less-than protective gear. The best we can do is accept the aesthetic of the game and respect other player's choice to glamour how they want. Creating an option like you're requesting would take developer resources, and with the team's significant support of glamour it's unlikely to happen.

I imagine you aren't too happy about the mod community then, because they can and have modded several outfits to be completely different.

I do apologise for the backlash you have been recieving, there seems to be a few people who are extremely sensitive, throwing around words like censorship, oppression, and respect like you need to bow down at their feet and tell them they look pretty. What you have asked for is harmless, and (for everyone who disagrees) I could see it as a way to lift glamour restrictions. The devs argument has always been immersion as to why glamour is restricted, but with this systme it would allow those who want an immersive experience to play that way, and for those who want to really experiment with glamour to go ham.

FFXIV is a game for all kinds of players, please be accomodating of those players even if you don't agree with them. This request is harmless.

The SE dev team actually doesn't care about model swaps, and they have long held that view. The unwritten rule is "don't be a dick, don't exploit, and we will turn a blind eye". Nobody in the history of the game has been banned for using a model swap.

That's not true. At all.
They may tolerate parsers under a "don't ask, don't tell" policy but they were always hard against those model-swaps. Obviously, because: 1) They don't want any nude mods and 2) losing money with glamour and mount-skins. Why should I buy the angels and devils costume or the fatter cat mount at the mogry station, if I could just install a mod, adding those skins to my game for free? Those are the two big reasons why Square Enix hasn't and won't turn a blind eye against modding. They are actually very active against it and have send cease and desist letter in the past (I know about at least 11, because there was a big article about it in a magazine about those strikes against the modding scene and players showing those mods on streams).

Thanks for your response. Perhaps I should have chosen a more careful selection of words. Definitely not trying to censor or dictate how someone glamours their character. Just offering a suggestion to allow us to customize the gaming experience further from the end users perspective. I like your use of the word "immersion". I honestly did not expect all of these negative responses.
