EDIT: SDFGFSDGDG MISTOOK THE THREAD, I'm very sorry orz

EDIT2: Since I'm here already, I'll say that I have heard about the case of the Japanese player banned. It sounds very harsh, but I'm missing a lot of information, so I don't know what to think about this.

In any case, the part about harassing people just for being friends of that person (or simply for wanting to defend that person) is very wrong, no matter how you look at it. I dislike witch hunting in any culture, and I dislike how hurtful the masses are when they believe themselves as very righteous. Often, the punishments are extremely worse than whatever crime that person committed.

It's like, if you're on a ship that's sinking, and someone points out that the ship over there is cleaner and is actually staying afloat and will get you to your destination safely, and you respond with, "Well, you're welcome to get on that ship!", I'm like...

Uh...okay. The ship you're on is literally sinking. You are literally going to die. Welp! Okie doke! Have fun in the afterlife!

So a little story, back in FF11 there was this activity called Walk of Echoes. My partner was trying to upgrade her trial of the magians great katana with coins that drop from that public activity. Apparently she tried to help some JPs that were in there already, she says that all she did was help kill whatever they attacked.

This went on for a bit until she got barraged in chat with {English}{No Thanks} or {English}{Leave} until they left her to die. As she was telling me this she was tearing up a bit because she didn't understand what she did wrong in a PUBLIC event that you can't reserve. Of course I got really upset because she's a lot nicer than I am in MMOs and not a sociopath like me.

I zoned in and typed {Japanese}{You can have this.}, I pulled all the crabs after sneaking by their alliance including the mini bosses, used flee, ran them to their alliance and wiped them. I heard the satisfying de-level sound from a lot of them as they died. My friend later told me that I'm definitely going to be reported, but never was.

I do know this though, that dreaded JP BLACKLIST that people talk about? Nihilist from Phoenix server formerly from Titan is on that list from what a friend told me after reading their forums. They may tell you that they all aren't arrogant or whatever bs they tell you but they held resentment towards the mass migration of new NA xbox players to their servers.

But why? Why burn that bridge with half the community on your server? Cause F**K em that's why, but more importantly because we got tired of being outclaimed by JPs during Simurgh pops, screw them and their lower pings.

This is very true in Thailand, where locals would rather say yes all the time when you ask if a direction is correct as opposed to admitting they don't know (and thus making you unhappy). Obviously, once I realise I'm walking in the wrong direction THEN I'll be unhappy. But that doesn't count apparently. lol

... what? This analogy makes absolutely no sense. They're simply saying go to a JP server if you prefer how they handle pugs than trying to force their preferences onto us.

It's typical for a reason - when people live their lives, there's rarely just a single answer on how to do so. Games are not much different.

Okay, so Japan clears content a bit sooner. Maybe their clears are more consistent. Big freakin' whoop. When players on non-Jp servers enjoy the game their way, I hardly see how they're a 'sinking ship.'

So yeah...if you really believe that the way Jp servers conduct themselves is far superior, then join them.

Haha when I was in Tokio this happened to me too. I was kinda lost and wanted to find the train station and asked some Japanese about it. Seemingly they did not understand me that well but still pointed me in a direction. (It was the wrong one) I only got real help from tourists.

Here's the thing. The response I quoted is pervasive in nearly every facet of American culture. "Love it or leave it!". It applies to politics, sports, movies, video games, etc. And it's been illustrated in this thread.

Now if someone just wants to post how [insert country here] is just so superior than the US in almost everything they do without offering any constructive feedback about how we can implement similar things in a way that benefits the country and fits with our culture, then yes, by all means, move to that country.

But the response of "You're welcome to join them," is the go-to retort. Even to constructive criticism. Hence, the sinking ship analogy.

From what I understand the average skill of the JP players is mostly because they will spend more time and effort making sure players that aren't doing well improve and learn things, unlike NA where you are expected to learn on your own.
I agree with this comment. I don't do savage content often and when I do, it's only one or two fights. I don't go out of my way to clear a lot because I just don't have the patience for it and quite simply, don't care. As an example, in Shadowbringers I've only done Titania, Innocence, and Eden Prime. I had no more patience nor cared to continue past Eden Prime. I did attempt some Hades when it first came out, but grew tired of it before clearing it, so never did. Of those 3 I did clear, I only really had Titania on farm, with the other 2 only being single clears.

Anyway, when trying to get a practice group going for something I do want to do, I find that after 1 or 2 weeks after the content has come out, there's already very few practice groups and the few that do exist, many times, are very....not patient. It's rather unfortunate that unless you get on to clearing that content immediately, it does get shut out fairly quickly after that. Now that isn't always the case, of course. There are still occasional good practice groups around long after content has been out or you can always make your own (and wait 45 minutes to find 7 other people), but they're few and far between.
