Why is glamour shaming still such a huge problem in FF14? Let's fix it in 2020.

They don't care about guys despite what they say just look at page 3 or 4 where I told my story about being called ugly on my Hrothgar I had someone telling me I was indeed ugly and nobody stood up for me while I was glamour shamed.

Also, I would also like to extend my sympathies that no one stood up for your Hrothgar. An an equal opportunity shamist, it saddens me that there are no equal opportunity knights on this thread. Shame, shame on them.

For the second time this week I was approached by strangers who told me that my glamour made me look like a s*ut. I don't know what I've done to deserve this as I was quiet in the party and didn't say anything.

I can't fathom why people are so obsessed with glamours to the point where you are judged based on your glamour. It's incredibly shallow, not to mention hurtful to those who can't or won't spend millions of dollars to buy the latest high end clothing or spend real money to buy glamour.

I get that you're very proud of your shiny glowy sword but there is absolutely no need to put down those with lesser means who can't afford to buy those on the market board. I saved a lot of Gil to buy the Pagos set and I am deeply hurt that someone would call me a s*ut over that.

Hopefully in this new year, we as a community can get over the glamour shaming and toxicity that has corrupted so much of the social scene in this game. Before you tell someone that their glamour looks s*utty or looks garbage, consider if perhaps they did not have the same privilege as you to acquire fancy and shiny weapons in game or on the Mog Station. Thank you for listening and please spread this message and call out the glamour elitists that you know in the game.

Your example shows that glamour shaming is still a current threat in FF14, and I wish the GMs did more to stop glamour shaming/discrimination. People assume a lot of nasty things about Hrothgars.

That's totally untrue. Look at Ragnar. The first thing I thought was

Never had that problem when I played a catgirl.
I replaced the skimpy starter outfit with something that had full coverage ASAP, then saved the Ironworks set until I got the NIN quest line set, and used that until I switched to Hrothgar, who only wears the racial glamour, and crafting / gathering sets.

I use the 2B outfit a lot and I've never been shamed.
Other type of 'outfits' I use a lot are the raid ones.
Anyway I never been shamed for what my character is wearing. Is this really a thing?

On the other hand I'm not really that social in game, I only have like 2 player I would call friend.
Unlike those e-cat girls in Limsa who're friends with the entire server and then they feel depressed and suddenly have identity disorder when somebody didn't liked something they did. But that sounds more of a personal problem then a 'community issue'.
