I have a few of the Feast mounts, one looks like I'm riding a giant turd. Why would you want that?

Same here. I hit PvP hard for about a week until they were all mine, then rarely touched PvP again after that except for grinding out a glamour set or something. It wasn't really that fun tbh, especially the 10 Frontline wins, but it was more tolerable to do Feast matches because they were over within a couple minutes at most a lot of the time. PvP is a mess in this game and is in serious need of attention. They also don't update the wolf mark rewards as often as they should.
Which is fine, but don't exaggerate saying things like "half the content in the game is barred to me" when clearly it isn't.
There's plenty of things I've missed out on because I wasn't playing the game from day 1.
Okay, I missed out. No big deal. There's always going to be things we miss out on in life. There are plenty of other items in the game for me to enjoy.
Just as you feel you enjoy the game less because you missed the opportunity get some limited time items, others enjoy the game less when things they feel should be exclusive to those playing at a limited time are always available. SE is stuck in the middle, trying to find a compromise that will keep both types of players satisfied to some degree.
So there are some items that are only available if you played at the right time, other items that can still be obtained but only via real money purchase if you didn't get them when they were originally available, and everything else is always available.
Personally, I'd rather see items remaining obtainable in game so future players don't feel like they've missed out but I get why they don't do it for everything. At least the overwhelming majority of items remain available through in game methods.
Your $15 a month pays for getting an opportunity to earn in game rewards through game access. It doesn't guarantee you will get any and all rewards you want.
Also, $15 has been a pretty standard subscription fee for MMOs for at least 20 years. Costs for game development and server maintenance have risen significantly in that time. What's a way for companies to generate revenue to offset those rising costs while leaving the subscription fee untouched?
Cash shops. Players who want more can pay extra (doesn't bother me as long as its restricted to cosmetics). Those who don't want to pay more can stick to the items that are earned by participating in the game content. People who weren't playing the game when a limited time item was offered still get a chance to obtain it by paying additional real money.
Are the cash shop prices too high? Evidently not. If there weren't enough players opening up their wallets and paying the requested price, SE would be reducing the price to get more players buying. Considering how much money people casually waste on other things in life without thinking twice, it shouldn't be surprising that they cheerfully waste money on items in game cash shops as well.
I'd prefer if there were more rare and obtainable things in this game, 99% of mounts and glams are pretty much handed to you on a platter, hell there's not even any rare minions aside from copycat and the preorder stuff.
I'm all for limited events, raids and achievements if it means more prestigious items.
Not true! I did get freelanced into Mael once. I greeted then with "I am so confused! I've never been sorted to Mael before?!?"
The joked back, it was fun. Probably my fault, but they didn't win that match..... sorry Mael
I hope they start bringing back the old Feast mounts with either the Itinerant Moogles or just let us earn them in PvP again. I despise having missed out on my favourite mount simply because the chance to earn it was already gone by the time I started playing.
EX trial mounts and past promotional items seem to be fair game, so what's good for the gander should be good for the goose.
Wern't those Tank mounts a thing since HW? They did add 'Armor' versions and a few more titles in SB for doing High-Level Duties as a Tank though. This thread is a bit of a mess but SE does seem to have this habit of just adding rewards to content no one is doing instead of actually investing any real time and effort into improving the content. They did the same thing for tanks last expansion sometime when no one was playing them, just added a mount and title for tanking so many instances. They may have to do the same for healers soon too since they don't seem to be in a very good state at the moment.
But I think that Lion, Bear and Panther Mount as well as the Titles have been a thing for a while. They added the Saber-tooth with Gunbreaker though.
And Healer Mounts? Sheeeet, I main Healer, so that would actually be a fun Grind.
