Yep, time to cancel my sub and walk away. This guy finally opened my eyes, the game is terrible and I just never noticed it before.

People used to say SAM animations were boring because they weren't super flashy, but that was why I liked it. There's a thing called elegance in simplicity.

Yeah, there's room for jobs with over the top spell animations and jobs with less flashy ones.

Oh another thing that IS half baked though: EGI glamour. Come on SE at least make a proper UI for summoners to use for it if you aren't going to add new models into the mix.

SE creates 2 jobs that are not 100% new but unlike most of what we see in pretty much any mmo across the board, from concept to weapon, instead of the standard necromancer.

    This guy...

Content over cosmetics (which I still like)? Yes, please, even if I end up not engaging with the content (unless it can potentially and "negatively" affect the content that I do engage with, like a Mythic+ system). And the cosmetics that they provide is still good for me, though of course I want more.

P.S. In a perfect world, no one has to give up anything, and we all get what we want...

Dude, your griping about purely aesthetic parts to game and trying to pass them off as 'critical'. The exception might be BLU, but as a limited job it is sidelined to side content and anything having to do with BLU, only affects BLU.

Homogenization of jobs within a role, encounter design, job design, questionable decisions of where to allocate resources; these are the critical aspects to the game that needs to be addressed. Hairstyles? Job sound effects? Please.

I say do it good or don't do it at all.

GNB sound lacked so much at the release. It did sound as if it were a toy. It is still not good, but some skills do sound better, like Fated Circle. And by looking at what Squall is in Dissidia Duodecim 012 I can't find that GNB Animations are better than it. GNB Animations doesn't bring the feeling that there is a thrigger in the gunblade, making it release such powerfull vibration, it just feels like a sword. The only one that brings this feeling is Sonic break, where the power from the trigger is big enough to puch the gunblade backwards. And thats what Squall Animations brings that have such impactfulness

DNC is okay, but lacks impactfulness such as his LB3.

Viera and Hrothgar should have been beast tribe if it's that we are receiving.

I really hope they honor dungeon resource realocation to make something worth the same value.

I don't really agree with the examples provided by the OP, but I sympathize with the general emotions behind the post.

Its been a pretty dry few months, since the release of SHB on the long term grindable combat related content. Last few weeks for me went by with just capping tomes and fetching copied coins. Its hard not to be salty when you see all this flashy new stuff coming out, but you're only marginally invested in them.

I don't mind the side content, I like and take a dip in most of them, but they aren't the main reason I play this game, so at times like this the drought really hurts.

For me, much of this wouldn't be an issue if we'd have things like PotD, HoH or the relic quests available at launch, or at least in the x.1 patches... I would even take Eureka at this point, despite extremely disliking Anemos and Pagos.

It's to early to compare really, once we're In 6.x then we can say if ShB felt complete or not.

While i do agree on some points, such as race limitations and less dungeons, who *actually* cares about "sound effects" or how flashy an animation is? You'd have to be really nitpicky to let that really skew your vision.

Also, while i dont care, a lot of people in my fc enjoyed blue mage with someone even joking they're a 'blu main'.
Maybe you dont like the content rn, but they cant only make content only a certain group care about. I personally only care about story, glam, and gameplay updates, but im sure some people like things like crafting updates or whatever.

Saying the game is 'half baking' is way overstating things, we're only on patch 5.1x dude.

Just want to say this to anybody complaining about the dungeons: The dungeons always had one good one and one "bad" one. Don't lie. You all know of one that you disliked and tried to avoid getting in the roulette back when there was two or three. Yeah we lose casual content, but let's be honest here. If a casual mentality is to get on, do expert, log off and keep doing that until the end of the patch or until something else side content that appeals to them gets implemented then I'd rather them get 1 really quality dungeon than 1 good and 1 bad. Not like it matters, if they put one on the MSQ that's the one you'll get even if it's the bad one, or whichever people decide the best tome/scrip grinding dungeon of the patch. At that point all they are getting is one dungeon and one forgotten piece of content that gets 1 run and next to never again. A good example would be Ala Mhigo in the 70 roulette. Nobody ever did the others in the 70 roulette because Ala Mhigo gave more tomes through 90% of the expansion.

    Headgear-
    Outfits-
Just to keep it short, I'll just cut the extra words.

    1. The hair thing I somewhat get. You unlocked the hairstyle and you want to use it, and they keep giving new ones without allowing H/V to use them. However I'd like to play devil's advocate for this very briefly: It's purely cosmetic. Do you need to be this upset about cosmetics that you probably change once or twice or collect without ever really using? And even if you did use the most recent one, how many other people are? I definitely think this should be fought for, but I think people shouldn't be so vitriolic or upset about it as they are.

    2. headgear 100% they've said is on the way. They also said more Egi glams were on the way so I don't know whether to believe them or not. But as this is a race rather than a minor cosmetic thing for one class I feel like they might stick to their words here.

    3. The hempen stuff is a minor minor thing. Like, if I were writing this I'd not even include this because of that. Do I think it'd be neat if each unique hempen set were it's own item for each race? Totally. But as it is it's just a minor detail.

To me the sounds of GNB and DNC are lacking greatly. Thinking of actions like Flare, Holy, Circle of Scorn, Midare Setsugekka, Mudra, and such, GNB and DNC to me, lack significantly in the sound aspect of the job. Each action sounds almost identical, and nothing seems unique.

    Animations-
Following the previously mentioned issue, GNB and DNC lack also in the animation department. Actions like Flare, Holy, Circle of Scorn, the screen does a little shake for those actions, adding to the flare and uniqueness of the job, giving them that extra "umph" if you so please. GNB and DNC, completely lack any unique animations. In fact, GNB the animations for their combo, look almost exactly identical. These were issues brought up about 1.0 and now have returned....
This is the one that I think is provocative. GNB and DNC as classes I've put lots of time into have lots of really cool and intricate animations that make them feel unique to themselves and the only people who, imo, wouldn't notice are people who don't really care about the classes, pull the camera really far away, or don't play them. Hell, GNB has some of my favorite animations to date in this game.

GNB: The sounds and looks of moves like Blasting Zone, Fated Circle, and such are not only straight from Dissidia but made slightly more unique through FFXIV's animators and I love it. Sonic Break, Bow Shock, and Superbolide are some of the best tank animations IMO. With Superbolide being the second coolest looking ultimate cooldown in the game with #1 being Holmgang with the chain coming out and your character holding onto it like "YEAH I GOT YOU." (does the chain still appear? I forgot. Either way it is or was cool). I mean, compare that to Hallowed Ground or Living Dead where compared to Superbolide where you shoot into the sky then it comes back to protect you they just kind of do a pose and it's done. Also, the Continuation Combo when done right is satisfying and fast as all hell and just a thrill to watch. Oh and Burst Strike with your character jumping into the air then coming down with a swing of their blade and a huge explosion is awesome. Especially when you use it like 3-4 times in a row, it feels like you're going ham.

DNC: DNC doesn't need fancy explosions or anything like that. The point of Dancer is to be graceful and light on your feet. Explosions are why GNB was made to kind of be the opposite for it in the expansion. It's brutish and direct compared to the graceful dance of the DNC. DNC has some really thrilling animations through. Bladeshower, Bloodshower, Reverse Cascade, all three Fandances, Improvisation, and Sabre Dance, oh and let's not forget En Avant and how satisfying it feels to use. All of these have fantastic sound and animation design, making your dainty chakrams feel and sound more like deadly weapons, and make you feel more like a nimble dancer. But even if they didn't have these sounds, they'd be fine because of the fact that they're more of a support. Also, just want to point out the dance animations are fantastic.

Now, do I think it's "alarming" not really, but it is massively upsetting that they didn't take the effort they did with RDM and SAM to make weapons for it for old primals. Especially when one of my favorite weapons for RDM is the Dead Hive Rapier.

How is this anything to do with what was said above? You mentioned Blue Mage like once. Also BLU was added in STB and the plans moving forward with it including the patch for this were probably laid far in advance minus a few things they did with it. If anything BLU is sloppy leftovers from STB and I think bringing this into a discussion about mostly stuff from SHB is disingenuous and hurts your argument more than helps.

I'm gonna say it. I'm gonna say it because I know people will get angry but it is true and I hate that it is. Technically the inability to do certain things in character creation makes the races unique. You say "race uniqueness" like it's the race that needs to be unique and not the individual character, but let's be honest it's already hard to be unique in this game outside of character's hair colors and highlights and weird eye colors. Not being able to equip headgear or hairstyles makes the race unique even if it doesn't help distinguish the character.

Also, we don't know if it's directly going to everything you said. We have still yet to see the next Deep Dungeon or the next relic weapon step so hold your horses. We should wait and see before immediately jumping to that conclusion. Blue Mage was dropped before the one dungeon each patch announcement and we still have an extra trial that will come up, and even casual players do normal trials I believe.

    EDIT: TL;DR

Animations and sounds for jobs are good
    Hempen stuff is minor
Blue Mage is STB and probably had plans way ahead of time
We haven't seen what content this dungeon stuff is going for
    Race uniqueness =/= character uniqueness
I believe the one dungeon stuff is over hated
