    We have things that add lore. FATEs, and hunts. The huntmasters have lore on the specific hunts in each zone, and all FATEs have lore tidbits. They also scale with the people who have done them. People HATE FATEs though for some reason. Not sure why. I'm of the opinion that its because there's a circle on the map and special music when you enter it. If randomly a bunch of mobs appeared, or a boss appeared, and it didn't have those 2 things, people would love it. Levequests also have lore info for the zones. This game does not lack for lore dumps.

    No I don't, and no it won't.

    S ranks have spawn windows. At most I'm in a zone for the 10 minutes it takes for people to get there and kill it, and 10 minutes is being generous. Don't get me wrong, it will take hours and hours and hours upon many hours to get all the necessary kills, but it's because of the 80 hour spawn timer, not because it's engaging open world content. Using something that's massively timegated as an example is a bad example.

    So you don't help spawn them? Only go for the kill? Well no wonder you don't have anything to do in the open world. Also, A ranks spawn every 4 hours, across multiple servers. You could quite literally be in the open world all day every day hunting.

    Guild Wars2 has this problem of "It's so easy to get X now!" There is no sense of achievement since anyone on day 1 can have the rarest item. Rare title takes about a week if you're dedicated enough. ArenaNet didn't want anyone to feel left out, so they made sure to be very liberal about giving away everything & hardly content locking anything. GW2 is a very simple MMO for simple minded players nowadays.

    My unpopular Opinion? Why are there only male related Final Fantasy outfits? Like Cloud, Zidane, Squall- yet they're meant to be neutral but in reality only look good on male characters. Where are the female outfits then?

    I've always hated, and I mean HATED MMO's that begin to break immersion by adding modern outfits in a fantasy game where the fashion lies heavily around Dark Age style clothing & renaissance clothing- Breaking immersion with hipster glasses & gimpsuits that people are only ever going to dye all black because they have 0 creativity just makes me wish block functions completely made the person invisible too. It's something that irks me to my core & mostly why I just only stay at my FFXIV Estate. I wish MMO's would stop doing this & just stick to creating better looks that fit the aesthetic, instead of introducing another pair of glasses. All of the glasses already look terrible ingame

    Final fantasy has never been pure dark ages though, it's always been a blend of scifi and medieval fantasy.

    I remember towards the end of Mists of Pandaria, the powerlevel escalation became so insane that the mechanics stopped making sense.
    Funny enough, this was something that the alpha/early beta testing base argued HEAVILY against when Blizzard went to a system that jacked up the effect of ilvl on stats by roughly 45%. They felt at the time that players "didnt feel more powerful" by getting +1 or +2 to stats every few levels while leveling.

    Aaaaaand then they made stat calculations depend on player level, so you needed MORE stats per level just to have the same relative power.

    Ilvl is not a good way to design gear, and there have never been good arguments that it is, but it certainly is the easiest.



    As for modern MMO's, I tend to enjoy that they're almost kind of figuring out how crafting should work (theres a LOOOOOOOOONG way to go), but they've butchered the concepts of dungeons, raids, and explorable worlds.

    EQ will always be my idea of what an ideal MMO base would look like, because it managed to have the right feel for exploring and farming in both overworld and instanced areas, had viable solo and group content, and raids felt epic. You could get out of it what you put in.

    This is also assuming I'm on at the time that they spawn in the first place. And again, using hunts as an example is the same as using gathering as an example.

    Farm A ranks? You mean teleport, fly, kill, repeat. There's no open world content other than the space between the closest aetheryte and the enemy.
