If I'm playing SMN... I'm going to damn well expect Large Pulls... at minimum 2 spawn points per pull... or almost all of the skills on my bar become worthless and it will be the most boring Dungeon crawl I do.

If I'm playing RDM... well I can go either way, as I have both and though not quite as fast as SMN... I've got great AoE. Especially when I get in there with Enchanted Moulinet to back it up.

If I'm playing a melee damager... well I'll probably need a good second DPS as well who understands the AoE rotations even though there are some like Monk and even Ninja depending, who are really good at it.

Also... pre-40th level content doesn't tend to work very well with it unless you've got BLM.

Generally though any tank or healer worth their grain of salt and geared is going to be able to handle at least 2 spawn points per pull.

I'd add in that certain low level dungeons you only pull big if the class composition at that particular level allows it. New player notification in Aurum Vale with big pulls = nightmare. Sure you might have a couple of BLM that can sleep bad pulls and bring adequate DPS. Or you have no Living Dead/TDN, your Ninja lacks his AoE combo, no one focuses the frogs, tank doesn't manage ranged adds at all.

Honestly, I love big pulls. They make things exciting as a healer. Makes me actually use tools I might not otherwise use and it's exciting. Granted, I don't think I could do it on AST nowadays. The card controls are too clunky (I use gamepad) and I lost one of my MP management skills (elixirs don't do much).

Granted, I don't appreciate a tank who overestimates themselves (or the healer if they barely make the cut ilvl wise). But, usually - in my experience, once they eaten the ground once, they learn not to do a pull THAT big again. Never had a tank who kept trying and trying and trying for ridiculously massive pulls.

I won't be coming back to FFXIV's forums. The forum vibe is way too venomous and brings out the worst in me. I don't like who I am on the forums, so it's best to distance myself.

tbh. i havent met a single tank as healer for years that asked how many he can pull.
also i should make that macro when i do fancy play tank rarely, by default i do medium pull.
How ever ive sadly encountered dps and healer run to a 3rd even 4th group and pull them to me... aaaand wipe, while healer only spam holy nova and expect me to stay alive on ONLY a regen, then complain, say what you want but i aint taking the deserter and get 2x punishment for that (first being jerks in party and name calling.) i clearly state they are welcome to use the kick vote when the 10min are up or let me do my duty ive signed up for, tanking, not your verbal punch bag. (this sends these snowflakes in a rage btw, not seen a single one come to their senses yet.)

im just slightly happy and sad, the same time im not the only one who is tired of this.

PS: i can heal superpulls, its just bloody stressful and in the end no matter what dungeon you max save 90seconds in my experience. Wipe once and it takes 3-5min longer then just do medium pulls. /shrug

I personally hate superpulls myself, I've had overconfident healers demand I pull wall too wall but I die due to a combination of DPS killing slow, all my cooldowns are used up. Though I will admit this expansion made it tolerable now.

Usually, I pull two sets of trash. If we kill slow, or I'm on the verge of death too much, one pack. If it's a super old dungeon and the healer and DPS are high level, I'll pull more unless told otherwise.

Some tanks probably think healers are their servants. This is disgusting. At the same time, they expect a high off-DPS and do not use DCDs, because they think that they are too cool for this. They do not evaluate the overall DPS of the group, they simply rush to the breach. The main tanks and healers task to ensure the safety of the group, but instead some of them is simply playing in an agressive abusive manner.

I played in several different MMOs for 12 years, and, for example, in my last MMO 2 of 4 years I was a hard content tank and healer. Wall-to-wall pulls are not possible in that game, cause group can easily die from 2-4 elite mobs if you took to much and do not position yourself correctly or do not use your DCDs.

FF 14 mechanics allows tanks to make large pulls and provokes recklessness. Honestly, I have never seen such a rude and boorish attitude as in FF 14. And only here I met healers who pull the tank into a next bunch of mobs because they wanted adrenaline, despite the fact that damage of the group is very low.

Playing in a group assumes that you will work together, but... this does not happen here. If you do not satisfy someone’s ambitions, you are a "bad tank" or a "bad healer". This is really sad game experience, including overt and covert insults that I had to read in the party chat from time to time.

In addition, one of the grossest mistakes made by "experienced players", which directly indicates their incompetence: they came from more complex content and naively believe that other players, even first timers, are ready to take all this stress and compensate their mistakes.

Big pulls with thick packs of enemies all beating on the tank is the only way I can get excited while playing healers.

This. When I queue up as a WHM, if the tank isn't doing big pulls I get bored out of my mind bordering frustration. It just isn't fun without big pulls.

I am a healer and i have no issue with this, as long as the tank uses buffs which they do 95% of the time, i even dps too. If a tank decides to do regular pulls, i don't tell them to pull everything either.

Know your skills, know your spells, know your job.

Once you know these, you have nothing to worry about or apologize for if they die, assuming you didn't forget to heal of course xD
