GLA/PLD is definetely my favourite, and although it took a long time to get used to the many changes since SB, I think it's finally in a really good place with it's considerable buffs and awesome new abilities, plus Clemency's potency is superpowered. I still miss the 'old school' GLA/PLD under the old 1.0/ARR cross-class system where Conjury spells could be equipped like Protect and Raise, but I think we now have gained more than we lost. Either way, GLA/PLD has been my main since 1.0 and will remain as such. Enki is a free knight forever.

I must admit though, I am also now thoroughly enjoying GNB, to me it's very much a tanky MCH with some old-school GLA-style skills thrown in for good measure (defensive buffs and regen-style self-heals, to say nothing of the gunblade's blade). And that is a good thing.

Goring blade combo, hitting FoF just before goring blade.
    Royal authority combo
    Atonement x3
Goring blade combo again before FoF wears off

    Holy Spiritx4

    Back into melee combo.

It's not the most involved combo but even discounting ogcds, that's eight buttons and you're doing it wrong if you're just pushing one button.

HW DRK by a mile. If se would have combined that with SBs AoE loop I would have little to complain about.

Paladin is my favorite and it's definitely the ShB incarnation of paladin as I finally feel like the job has a nearly complete toolkit since I started near the end of ARR. I have actual proper AoE, better party support, more consistency with sheltron, and what I'd been arguing for in regards to tank stances in all this time finally happened.

Only thing I feel the job is missing is maybe one more way to spend the oath gauge when not tanking a boss myself. The defensive buffs I can put on other people is helpful but if the party is going smoothly and folks know what they're doing I never need to use cover and putting a buff on the other tank to help slightly mitigate 2-3 autos isn't very exciting. Maybe if it was revamped to work more like TBN but could only be cast on other people? Just a random thought.

I think you guys need to pay closer attention to the entire post. I didn't say all of pld was one button I say much of it was referring specifically to the sword oath and magic segments. I was saying that I would have preferred they do something a bit more interesting with the additions than mash the same the button over and over.

Definitely HW DRK. The job just felt so satisfying to play, and I liked that you were actually punished for failing to manage your mana properly (compare to SB DRK, where Darkside didn’t fall off even if you hit 0 MP, so your damage wasn’t punished for poor management). SB DRK had too much Dark Arts spam, and the removal of the Delirium combo and Scourge really made it feel boring. ShB DRK is okay, and I enjoy it; but I still miss HW DRK. I’d like to see DRK get a second combo back in the future, or at least a DoT to upkeep or manage. Anything to break the Souleater only monotony.

You couldn't be any more right.

I hated Stormblood DRK which is why I didn't stick around for much of the expansion. I've been gone for over a year and just came back and I'd say that so far I like this version better than Stormblood but that's not saying much. And there is plenty I don't like.

Late SB WAR was pretty damn spicy. I still like WAR the most, but it feels kinda off to me, nowadays.

HW DRK or... SB Paladin, honestly. Early SB Warrior just behind.

HW DRK for the reasons others have already covered and that there were far more numerous and varied points of engagement, both under their durations and in preparing for the next among them. SB DRK had some great stuff of its own in dungeoing, but HW still comes out ahead to me.

SB PLD was just like PLD had finally turned whole. It wasn't perfect, but it finally made sense and reached most points it felt like it should have. Had the Oath swaps just been a half-GCD apiece, or were oGCD with a gauge cost and it had just one more gauge spender outside of the standard Shelltron/Intervention mitigation stuff, and Shelltron lasted a couple seconds starting after the next hit or up to a given absorption amount (still mitigating damage in excess on the final, breaking blow), I'd have loved it to no end. ShB PLD isn't a step down so much as just not as far a step up as I'd have hoped after going from HW to SB (though I suppose that's true for all tanks, save perhaps DRK, which was already cheated).

Early SB Warrior was criticized to no end, but honestly I felt like it was simply undertuned more than fundamentally flawed in any way. If Inner Release had also doubled gauge generation, Inner Beast, Steel Cyclone, and Storm's Path were given a bit more damage-to-healing conversion, Unchained was buffed (e.g. by having Wrath skills be penalized by Defiance, again, but given them higher base potency), and the CD of stance-swapping was reduced to, say, 5 seconds, and Shake it Off actually removed debuffs from self (and perhaps others nearby), it would have been wonderful. As it was, however, it was just something that I enjoyed a lot, but felt missed out on a lot of obvious opportunities.
