They're hiding in the nearby woods with the male Viera.as the title suggests i'm wondering since the bozja citadel will be the setting of the next artifact weapon questline. and as they mentioned in the liveletter, the bozja citadel is the homeland of the hrothgar. and as other hrothgar npcs have stated, the females stayed behind (especially the queen) while the males ventured out for whatever reason...so i wonder what kind of excuse they'll come up with to not show any.

If (and only if) they do plan to get rid of the genderlock in 6.0, then that would be perfect context to show a female Hrothgar NPC in say 5.55 like Fran appeared in Ivalice 4.5
(and they still won't have headgear)

There is already leaked footage of Female Hrothgar playing with Miqo'tes available.
People may not like the reason given but if you look at mother nature. She does the skewed thing in creatures like Bee's, the majority of bee's born in a Bee colony are female very few males are born. Living rocks are born Male and grow female aparts upon reaching maturity. Last one is kind of weird but just shows nature is not against having a species produce more of one sex then the other. I find it adds uniqueness too the game but thats me..It'll be the same lore reason for why they're not playable. Hrothgar have a highly skewed male-over-female birth rate, so there are fewer of them around.
Combined with Bozja being, y'know, in ruins due to the destruction of the Lunar Transmitter turning most of it into a crater.
Note: Taking advice from a players alt, is like taking advice from a voice in a dark room. Criticism is a two way street remember that!!
Might just have one with a unique model that isn't a player model.
We have female fat Miqos but can't play as them for example. Or for a less extreme example, our hyurs can't get half elezen ears like Hilda.
Them making an npc for male viera/female hrothgar wouldn't be a problem. The problem is making a fully fleshed out player model for them that can wear the game's catalogue of equipment.

Darwinism at its finest I'm guessing. Hrothgar are not very good at the whole natural selection thing it seems, given how few I actually see and the females being nonexistent.

There are no females. Hrothgar reproduce entirely asexually by budding.

Maybe we'll start in a place where there are no Hrothgar; then, at the end, in the last patch, we'll meet a lion lady that will help us by... being there, like how we met Fran in the final part of the Return To Ivalice raid. If this stuff will be like Eureka, then maybe all the lionesses will conveniently be in the final section we'll visit.

When i see aLalafellcharacter wearing a cute glam

I've said as much previously. A tease here and there that some females "Are totally around here somewhere, we just haven't seen any, yet. Oh, my wife says hi." Perhaps we see one fully covered using a modified femroe model in 5.3-4 (guessing, don't quote me on that) then closer to 5.5-55 finally see a lady lion. Maybe as far as an audience with the queen, who may indeed be heavily veiled or hidden behind a screen.
