    Sure, let's assume that's true!

Why are they putting the totally-not-based-on-children race in children's clothing?

Specifically, the base racial clothing set that's supposed to reflect the fundamental aesthetic qualities of their respective races..

    Huh, that's a little odd ain't it!

What do you think would happen if you showed concept images of Lalafells to a complete stranger who was unfamiliar FFXIV, and asked them to describe them? Do you /really/ think they wouldn't immediately compare them to children?

    Well, it is true.

"Originally modeled on a spirited kindergarten-aged boy. The smock and satchel were adapted for adventuring. It occurred to me after that if Lalafell were taller, this might resemble a <can't read> in Dragon Quest<someone with better eyes confirm this last bit?>

As far as using a child to model clothes - Lalafell barely hit 3' as a max height. I'm thinking a kid was probably easier to find vs. a dwarf for sizing purposes. In addition to that, the exert mentions how the outfit was outfitted for adventuring. I've never once thought that the outfits have looked like children's clothes. They fit in just fine with the other racial outfits (several which also include a dress/skirt variety for their females).

I'd say Lalafell fall more into the chibi category as they are definitely cute and tiny and a bit more exaggerated in their shape than the other races. I do think that Lalafell, out of all the races, are definitely the most childlike - but I've never viewed mine or any as an actual child. The game also doesn't view or treat them as children either. As it was mentioned earlier in this thread, there are Lalas doing plenty of horrible things in this game, none of which would be suitable for an actual child to be taking part in.

You may not think they do, but the developers who iterated and created those outfits in-game do.

Prominent FFXIV related discords have been slapped with de-partners, warnings and bans over Lalafell related uh... content, because to the outside observer it's impossible to reasonably differentiate. Heck, the guy who runs the largest Lalafell Discord was straight banned from Discord because of his... proclivities.

You cherry picked a single point of my post. You flat ignored, or didn't read all the comments about how they are cute, therefore children - and then ironically keep using their cute clothing and looks as justification for their being children. You flat ignored that the game, SE, and the lore, depicts the lalafell as adults, and small elves, but I'm doing mental gymnastics? This isn't even an opinion. It's fact. Lalafells are adults, unless specifically stated otherwise in a story.

Being cute, androgynous, short, wearing cute/childish clothing, or being hairless doesn't mean not-adult. Also, the lalafell can, and do, have beards/facial hair. Children do not.

I don't care what random people, who don't play the game, think of a drawing, out of context. Showing concept art with random clothing is not proof that lalafells are children. They are small elves. Elves are often depicted as hairless and beautiful, youthful, and androgynous. That does not mean they're not adults. It does not mean that putting certain clothing on them makes anyone a pervert.

My mother is very short, and shops in the children's section often, for herself. She's 60. Is she a child?

There are other races which are small and/or cute. Nu mou. Goblins. Dwarves. Mammets. Are they children? No? Because they aren't cute? Aren't elven with mild resemblance to humans?

This really boils down to you, and others, thinking light clothing, and nudity, is inherently sexual, and people thinking only cute humanoid looks matter, not age, or species, or direct depictions, or lore.

If someone is sexually attracted to children, that's gross. This isn't about that. Discord bans people for all kinds of random stuff that doesn't make sense. I don't care about Discord. Discord does not decide the lore for the game, or anything else for the game.

Lalafells are a small elvish race, and are adults, and can murder, pillage, battle, die, and wear what they want. SE depicts it that way. The lore depicts it that way. You're claiming SE *wants* them to be children, but the fact is they don't depict them as children, at all, unless you think heavy drinking, sex, joining armies, murdering, and being courtesans is normal for a child.

In the end, the point is that it's annoying that all the other races get one look, but it's "made more modest" for lalafell, at random times, even though they're able to wear equally "revealing" clothing in other instances (Coeurl briefs, fish-net stockings, high heels, etc).

    I totally agree.

Lalafell are chibi. That's their niche in this anime based game.

As part of this niche, they have an "openness" and express their emotions for all to see. In Japan, that makes them childlike.

Just find it kinda weird how some people can fix this issue while a group of devs cannot.
Whoa! Not going to share the link because it's a bannable offense to use the add-on. But, I'm impressed by the artist's work.

This post is more about fixing how they look. Replacing the tiny pixelated panty with the same sized one the other races get.
Definitely. I'm not seeing why folks are trying to take this request down the "it's sexualizing children" road. It's a simple request to fix a gear issue.
