Pole Dance Emote and Furnishing: When Do We Get It?

We're not strippers or pole dancers. Stuff like this is not going to happen. Just because it's in the game does not mean we're suppose to imitate this kind of behavior. It may simulate what happens in the world but we are suppose to be looked up to as an inspiration to other people in the world. Not selling off our bodies for money.

Pole dancing is a legitimate performance art, just like burlesque; it's by no means limited to strip clubs, and outside of the dance world, there's plenty of people that enjoy it for equal parts fun and fitness. Just because something is sensual or erotic doesn't mean it's prostitution. On top of that, the Beehive dance is INCREDIBLY tame. Let's not turn this into a needless moral panic.

To OP: yes please. I've wanted the pole and animations ever since I made it to Eulmore; I'm dying to show off my Viera legs.

It's one thing to have this stuff for story reasons. It's another to allow actual players do it and risk shooting the game rating up to M because of what could happen due to the emote existing.

But it already exists in-game? Player interactions don't change an ESRB rating whatsoever. Keep in mind that there's already adult content in FFXIV: violence, rape, slavery, racism, prostitution, cannibalism, fascist empires, and so forth.

I doubt we're going to get it, they probably don't want to encourage in game strip clubs/brothels. And there's a difference between an NPC doing something and having players freely do it.

Those exist in every popular MMO roleplay community; FFXIV is no exception. What people do in private is really no one else's business.

This is such a ridiculously loaded question. Of course no one wants to advocate for things like slavery, racism, and cannibalism. My point is in your matter-of-fact hypocrisy; you took something that is completely innocent and consensual, claimed it as 'prostitution' (as if legalized sex work is somehow the gravest sin), then labeled it as a bad influence in a game that's filled to the brim with adult content and/or touchy subject matter. It was a reactionary, puritanical, knee-jerk reaction to a harmless request for both an item and animation that already exists in FFXIV and is by no means offensive. The language you used made two things very clear: an attempt at moral high ground, and a resounding 'no' ("stuff like this is never going to happen", etc.). That's your opinion then. I personally think you're just a bit upset in your response. You're more than welcome to voice out in the next Q&A about this topic if you really want it, all I've given is my reasoning as to why I believe it won't be implemented into the game.

It's not his hangups though. It's the development teams. Like they alluded to there is literally no gambling in the Gold Saucer due to various countries laws. They have to abide by age ratings and PR. Remember the whole "player brothels" fiasco at fanfest?
