Partial buying is something I miss from other games, because I don't wanna buy a stack of 99 when I need 1 single item.
That said, others are right, in this game it wouldn't work because it's too full of bots and this would favour bots.

As for the second - hell no! It's already annoying enough having to adjust prices to ever sell something, now even being penalized for that? If anything they should put limits to how much an item can sell for, ex: not higher than this amount, not lower than this amount. It's always been so crazy how in a matter of a few hours an item can go from 100k to 10k or from 10k to 10g.

No? I'm selling you this many at this price. If I wanted to sell it as a stack of 10, I'd charge at a different rate. EX: You can buy 99 at 99 each, but if I have an extra stack of 10, I'm listing it at 105-110 each. Buy in bulk and save. Don't start dictating how I want to sell stuff. (NOTE: I usually sell in smaller stacks for these people, and it works out, but doesn't mean it should be able to bypass what the seller wants to do.)

We already pay a fee when it sells. What would be the purpose of being charged every time it is placed or re-priced to sell? If I list at 10k when the average is 10k, and the average drops to 6k cause undercutters, why should I be charged to re-price or re-list the same item to bring it to the new average?

I wouldnt mind if SE took control of the Marketboard prices and how much sells to load up daily.
This would make more worth on what ppl would choose to sell.

If you want to buy only a portion of a big stack, then make an arrangement with a group of players (e.g., your FC) that collectively you’ll buy the stack and distribute the stack amongst yourselves.

Or what you personally can do is buy the stack, use what you need, and then post the remainder for sale.

What absolutely should not be done is have some form of price controls (or whatever) on the market because this will create disastrous market distortions (and related unhappiness), per economic theory going back eons.

You can't take that decision away from sellers, I price a large stack to move because i want it gone. I'm giving you a discount but you have to take the whole thing. Or in other words if you want costo value you have to buy in bulk.

Only things want them to change is make market board datacenter wide, let you sell stacks of 999, and add a bidding or make offer system to it. Liked how tera online market board was you could make offers on items.

So many tears in this thread because of the suggested partial buying. Oh. My. God.

How come this is a feature in almost any other MMO and it works just fine? Must be the dumb community there, who don't realize how this is a "vewwy vewwy baaad" thing, right? It could never be an actual better version of the current market board version here. No, that's certainly not possible.

I bought an item for 1.6mil yesterday and got charged 81k on tax. -Squints- I was wondering, actually: where does the tax go? If it doesn't actually go anywhere, then it's useless flavour text that's really not necessary.

So, on that branch of thought, I'm totally against the #2. I also wouldn't want #1 to happen to me as a seller, either. Either you buy in bulk for cheaper per item [usually] with a higher total, or you get a single item for more expensive per item but with a significantly lower total.

I won't be coming back to FFXIV's forums. The forum vibe is way too venomous and brings out the worst in me. I don't like who I am on the forums, so it's best to distance myself.

A money sink. RP-wise, it pays the city-state for cross-city-state trading. Encourages you to buy from your local city-state. I think at one point city-states would discount based on location, but I'm not sure if they do that anymore?
