    I sort of agree with Syntaxlies. It is already hard enough to get anything past 1 meld, if you want your gear to affect the success rate i think SE will balance that by reducing the success rate.

    A better way maybe is to upgrade the goblin tool after a certain number of successful melds. That would definatelly give an advantage to people that are actually spending time and gil in the double + melding.

    to me even asking for a +1 % ring would be asking alot, but i could see it happening. +1 may seem small but thats still 1 more out of a hundred that you had before.

    Why not ask your self why better tools would make any difference when you are using the materia melder tool from the goblin npc to attach materia. it doesn't even make sense that your hammer would give a bonus to your melder.

    your offhand tool doesnt grant a bonus to you main hand does it.
    That's funny cause all I ever see is myself using a tool to attach materia. Also, it would be pretty easy to add a goblin that has found a way to have yor strays affect the outcome of forbidden melding.

    youre right and its true about the tool and melder effecting each other. it does not make sense, the tools are completely separate from one another. Though, what does make sense is the clothes or equipment currently equipped, as they're suppose to raise your stats in its entirety, melder or no melder. So, as OP said, naked melding having the same effect and chance as materia'd equipment is invalid and makes no sense.

    I'm gonna have to partially side with syntax on this one, double and triple melds are significantly better than any other gear in the game they should be hard then again I wouldn't mind some super hard super long and tedious quest that allows you to upgrade your key item after you complete a lot of melds.

    thats only an animation we can assume that you r tool is only prepping the item to receive the materia since they already said that you use the goggy tool to attach.

    unless the melder has a unique stat (ill have to make one up for hypothetical purposes)(concentration) no matter what gear you add it would not affect the concentration stat since it is unattainable.

    Perfect you answered both of your own concerns, add a new stat like concentration and put it on HQ'd gear/tools to help your materia %'s. Also you said it yourself

    Excellent! you can improve your stats so that the item your prepping is in a better condition to receive the materia.

    Then let those other ppl post their concerns, I'm tired of ppl on these forums posting on behalf of the "community" like their doing some service to the masses who can't speak up for themselves. I'm not asking for anything major just a few %'s for the crafters who spent the proper time to gear up vs the lazy who want to do it naked on R1 tools.

    you forgot the part where i said

    unattainable.

    since you insist on defending your case to the bitter end here lemme ask you a question.

    have have melded a grade 3 and now are trying a grade 4 you have no gear on at this point and the % is 18 success. With you super gear what do you think the % should be?
