Setup things to do and maybe delegate peeps to run said events. Before i changed servers the last fc i was in, the leader always set up events and such but couldnt participate due time constraints. The big thing is to communicate with your fc even if you are only on for a an hour. That what they did with this fc. Even though they werent there everyone thought they did s great job running the fc though. You're allowed to have a life outside of the game, play other games and such.I do a few roulletes each day and I also run a FC but I don’t even know what to do with that anymore, now that I’m working full time I feel like I have even less time to play now and there’s other games I want to play too, is it possible to work 8 hours day plus drive 45 minutes both ways and still have a lot of time for this game and other games or am I just trying to push myself too hard? It just starting to feel like a burden logging in somedays and I don’t want to do a disservice to my FC either
Communication is key though i believe.
I do 2 roulettes a day and try to do all the shb hunts trice a week to cap on tomes. Other than that I do lots of crafting.
Try running a fc, full-time job and 5 kids a 15, 14, twins 3 and a 18 month old. With about 1/2 way though 5.0 I gave up now that there is only 6 active members.
It's a long forgotten skill called "planning"
I have a full time job work 40 hours a week. have evening classes 3 sometimes 4 nights a week, a partner a family, a few social activities such as an model aviation club. various stuff for the kids after school activities. And i still have time to play games binge netflix or hang out with my mates and have a laugh.
admittedly i don't play XIV as much these days but still time for games in general.
The problem many people seem to have these days is time management. or effective planning. it's not that you don't have time so much as you can't manage it.
people are so instantanious and superficial these days they don't know how to plan. i could ask a load of friends on monday "hey guys wanna go karting or something on saturday?" and if i ask 8 3-4 will say yes or no straight away. the other 3-4 will be "mmmm i dunno what i'm doing yet i'll let you know" to afraid to make a plan incase some miracle opportunity comes up and they miss it. then what happens is on friday night or saturday morning they'll come to you and be like "we still on for karting tomorrow?" and then get all butt hurt when you say nope we couldn't get enough people so we're doing something else instead... and now they're sat at home bored and depressed all weekend because we're all out having fun without them and they weren't invited.. yes you were you were invited a week ago!!!
IMO this attitude also transpires into games. it's why people say getting statics is impossible and things like that. it's not impossible at all. its just people dont want to make any plans ever. telling a bunch of people you can raid on a friday night isnt any different form saying you'll go out for a meal on friday night or go catch a movie... but people are just afraid to commit to a plan because something better might come along or whatever. and in always waiting for that something better. nothing ever gets done... thats why people find they have no time. because they spend so much of it twiddling there thumbs waiting for something to come along instead of actually doing something..

i also have a full time job. I play 2 hrs on certains days, & 3 hrs on other days. I dont play on Sundays. Certains days I may play roulettes & beast tribes to level alts. Other days I do raids, hunts. trials. I'm off Saturdays & Sundays. On Saturdays, I may set aside a few hours for some gathering & crafting, Gold Saucer, & Raids.
It's basically prioritizing what you need & want to do. I dont gather or craft much, not a priorty to me. But doing raids, trials, roulettes are.
I hear you OP. I've pretty much hit middle age a few years ago and realized that maybe I should hang this game up. My generation it's rare that both spouses play games but at least the millenial gen has this luxury. I work 45hr a week and have other commitments like gym that I don't want to give up.
It stings that I can't raid, or have the time to go with a static but the game story is too good and I feel obligated to see it through. I can at least farm EX primals and craft, though I think Savage is off the table for me. Can't spend hours wiping to the same fight like back in the old days.
I have a desk job and my own office, so I can play at work.
It can make group content tricky, though, since I can technically get pulled away at a moments notice.
