Dependant on the server though... On some, like Balmung, with such a large population there isn't really enough to go round.

Except Lavender Beds has 480 apartments available in the new wards alone. A check of a few other wards in Lavender Beds found several more apartments available (mainly in the subdivision buildings where up to half the apartments were empty).

There are plenty of apartments out there on Balmung for those who want housing but don't have any. I get that an apartment isn't as good as a house but at least it's something until SE comes up with a better solution to the house issue.

There's enough housing for every player on every world already. Apartments are housing, regardless of what some players want to believe.

If they added like, a balcony with a garden then they'd be set. It's housing but doesn't have all the features of the actual houses right now. You can garden, sort of, but you can't cross breed - unless I missed an update somewhere. So you'd still have to rely on a friend or an fc with a house for that unfortunately.

Personally, I'm happy with my apartment except for one thing...

There's no way to properly Garden.
You cannot cross seeds and you don't get the gardening animations, you only get a generic use item animation.

You don't have access to all the feature with an appartement. If they give us balcony so we could use outside furniture and gardening, THEN it would be the same thing.

I don't know why so many of you want access to a house when the apartments give you the same thing and you don't need to go in every month so that they don't destroy everything you've built.

In addition, the FFXIV housing system is horrible. You have to make two hundred moves to place a piece of furniture where you want, or watch YouTube videos to learn how to glitch things that the game should already bring as standard.

As for gardening... I don't think it's that important. Also, every FC has a place to plant and I very much doubt that it will be used assiduously by other members.

They did not add appartement because the price of the plots were too high and that would allow cheap access to housing but because of the lack of plots due to the way they created the housing and how they got stuck with their own system.

Saying it's cheap won't change the fact that appartement is not full housing experience, not because of the price, but because of the capacity limits of the servers

Personnaly I'm more into creating gardens than decorating the inside and considering I can't use outdoor fourniture inside (let's say to creat a magic winter garden) i'm not satysfied with the appartment.
Plus, appartement are way too small (not regarding the number of items you can place but the size of the room).
I know they are based on the Inn room so....give us a Cristarium inn room sized appartement with a balcony and we might get closer to what the other players can enjoy regarding housing

You don't have access to all the features with a house, either. Not unless the house is Free Company owned. Individuals can't launch airships, or do any of the other things that depend on a workshop.

These content were designed to be guild activites, thus needing a guild to be done.
Housing was designed to be a solo player experience and, today, all players do not have access to the same content so it's unfair. We are not talking about something needing work and effort to be granted access (like raids or EX for instance) we are talking about SE choosing WILINGLY to create a system preventing some players to enjoy a feature by making it "numbered". (not sure of the term, english is not my mother tongue)
No matter how hard you work, how many gils you farm, in the end of the day, if all the spots are taken, you are screwed.

I never even bothered with housing as a new player as it is clearly a rich mans game. I saw how this type of system spiraled out of control in other MMO's heavily favoring people with the most money and creating a large gap in the haves and have not taking advantage of the suckers.

It is just an aspect of the game that seems cool in concept that I may never actually see unless I make bank or just flat out buy gil from a dark money site. If this is supposed to be a feature of FF14 then it is currently failing for new players.
