This system makes no sense to me. There are tons of small and medium plots going for 1.9-2 million on Faerie in the new wards not being purchased and they are STILL locked?

So, the only way as a private individual is to wait for some old ghetto cast-off plot to become available in an older ward, then pay $3.5 million for the same plot I could get for $1.9 million in the new ward? How does that make sense?

I can see locking the new wards the first week or two of the patch but obviously no one is rushing out to grab these plots so open them up! I have the gil, I should be able to buy it. I have a life, I have a job. I am not going to spend 8-10 hours waiting on one plot and an invisible timer.

AND you have the audacity to make me pay upwards of $2 million MORE for the same plot going for way less in another ward? Come on.

Found your problem. Do you want a house or do you want a good location? Because it sounds like the latter.

Because as someone who bought a small and upgraded to a medium, the reason I was able to do this was the location I was in. It's not the best in the world, but ultimately location doesn't matter to me.

It's more the fact they want me to pay close to $2 million more of a small plot in an older ward that is going for much less in a newer ward.

Housing on Twintania and Spriggan had been locked to FC only for months, just to inform you that you'll most likely have to have more patience.

I think the period for FC purchasing is way too long. They should have released the wards already. I've recently purchased a small FC house on the water in Mist on Chocobo for a FC I belong to and if you check the new wards they're all sold out. It's hard to believe that there were that many FC's or transfers waiting to buy houses on that server in Mist.

I know a few people who found houses off timer in the old wards in the last week. For some reason people haven't been checking them as much it appears or maybe the Firmament and all that was going on there distracted people from looking.

A big part of the problem is that the housing wards were ORIGINALLY intended for FC use ONLY. Player housing was going to be separate (and much more affordable!), but Yoshi P's dreams were a bit larger than his developers could serve up. So, they co-opted the existing FC housing, and made it available to individuals as well.

Most of the problems we have with housing now are due to this original hack-job. Every change to housing is done in order to shore up the foundations of a system that was never intended for individual buyers in the first place.

I mean beggars can't be choosers. Most of us, I imagine including me, started off ghetto to get the plots they really wanted. The moment those new wards open, you can bet you'll grab the first thing you can.

The only reason the new ward plots are less is the temporary restrictions on fresh purchases being fc only. They've had time for the prices to slowly wind down. Once that restriction is removed, those plots will fill in and the only thing available will be auto-demoed plots at full price.

I'd say something about the XIV housing system being a neglected jank but .. the game does it for itself.
