They harrased you and still play the game despite instant ban policy for swaering?
It was on stream, but they deleted it when confronted about. As for them coming to my FC house, they tried to make provocations, threw insults, say chat spamming, big mount spamming, spell spamming and such to try and make me/FC members mad and lose control and harass them them back so they could counter-report us, we weren't going to give them that privilege.
That's why there is this something called "leadership". Believe it or not, strong leadership isn't about being "friends" to everyone. It's about having clear guideline, impartial, and the ability to make the hard decision when necessary while having enough charisma to 'survive' such decision. The decision to do that was risky, even though it was well warranted. The reason I say it's risky is because of the mini chain reaction from the biased FC member. I've seen chain reactions lead up to 10+ people leaving and usually taking the more popular members with them.. and FC not recovering. Circles within FCs can hold the FC itself hostage.
Good for you and you should make sure your FC mates do the same. The moment you get dragged into their game you already lost, no matter the outcome. It was on stream, but they deleted it when confronted about. You probably can even get greater satisfaction on this because, seeing them mobilizing people and waste their time on harassing you, it proves it's bothering them far more than it's bothering you. Buddhism has two teachings to tell people why they should never hold grudge and generally ignore unwarranted insults:
- When you hold a grudge against someone, you are the one letting it bothering and eating you on the inside while the person you're holding grudge against probably just moved on with their life.
- For someone to gives, there must be someone to receive. One can only insult another if that person react to it. Meaning, someone can only insult you if you are willingly to receive that insult. (Tbh with the culture of "I can be insulted by anything and everything is offensive" we live in these day, I wish people are a bit more stoic about it).
Something very similar happened to myself (2nd in command) and my FC leader, where a long time trusted member cleared out our chest of some VERY valuable mats and defected to another FC. Not sure what spurred this all on but it was reportedly some kind of infighting between our Officers in the raid Linkshell and neither myself nor the FC leader were on to witness it. We had to kick just based on the theft evidence, neverminding the other stuff. They then took to Mor Dhona (back in ARR this was) and began shouting all kinds of nasty stuff about me, and the other members. A close friend tipped me off at the time so we ported there and began screenshotting the whole mess. I warned them in /tell to knock it off or I'd report but the response was to copy/paste my warning in /shout. I did report, SE never asked for any evidence as they had chatlogs I suppose and the offender got a temporary ban. The end result of this was a slow spiral of death for the FC as neither myself nor our leader had any heart left for it. They eventually past leadership on and everyone left. So ya, circles within circles...Don't take it to heart, a**holes exist everywhere
Don't touch me there
The FC I'm in, the leader uses shout to recruit frequently. It's one of the least drama-filled guilds I've ever been in throughout my 20+ years of MMO gaming. Perhaps you shouldn't lump all guilds together because of a bad experience you have had.
Unnecessary use of sarcasm is well noted sir. That is just one of two things I wanted to tell you, you don't want me to say the other. That's why there is this something called "leadership". Believe it or not, strong leadership isn't about being "friends" to everyone. It's about having clear guideline, impartial, and the ability to make the hard decision when necessary while having enough charisma to 'survive' such decision.
Several months ago I had to leave the FC I was in. I got along with almost everyone, but the leader has some strange notions of what is and is not spoiler. Mentioning that a character experiences character development, without specifics, just that the character experiences development, he categorizes as a spoiler. I'm all for the "No Spoilers" rule, but when you're arguing that saying a character grows is a spoiler, you're taking it too far (especially in a story-driven rpg where character growth is both expected and obvious). And when I say argue, I do mean he was arguing. I had to blacklist him for my own sake. A couple days later I joined the FC I'm in now and it's by far the best guild I've ever been part of.
But I left quietly. I didn't cause drama, I didn't cause a scene. The few who asked why I left, I explained it politely. I don't like being the cause of drama. I will, however, grab popcorn when I see it happening as long as the drama will not cause problems that impact me. >
I don't see where he's being sarcastic, though. He's right. Ideally you want to be on friendly terms with who's in charge. More so when it's part of your hobby/entertainment. But he's still right. And even after reading it several times, I can't find sarcasm there.

Because none was intended, unless there is a very different definition for sarcasm that's I'm not aware of.
Perhaps you should let him voice his - and mine - experiences and don't brush it off just because of a good experience you have? I feel the same, and these FCs are most likely equally bad as those silent ninja-inviters.
Nah mate, not me. Always been with the same lads for all the time I play MMOs now and I can tell you it has always been splendid. All I ever see and hear (gossip is the way of life for any online experience by the way) is ex-members and/or leader trashtalking each other and it never ends. So get yourself a pack of good friends and off you go, having fun whatever you get your kicker out off.
