Honestly, though, seeing most of these responses is very disheartening, and it puts people off from wanting to bust their butt for people who feel entitled to other world's free labor. "Well if you REALLY want to help you should work for us and not expect to be able to share in the fate rewards!". Just sounds bad? That's not actually any better than the people farming fates and not contributing, it's all entitled.

I'm sorry people were locked out, frustrated, and so on, but when you're making these snide remarks about how the help was "unwanted" please remember that mixed in with the fate-train runners you had a lot of people genuinely trying to do something kind (at least on Aether that was the case), some of us also displaced but making the most of it anyway.

For those of you who wanted to go at your own pace and are happy with this change, I genuinely hope you don't end up finding your own words bitter later.
There is literally nothing stopping you from helping if you wanted to. You can still share information, hand out materials, give tip, etc.

People who want to help will still help no matter what. People who stop helping because there's nothing in it for them anymore aren't actually in it to help people, they were in it for themselves.

Also in my experience being on your same data center, I will say that if this is indeed what you were doing, then you are in the small minority. I never once saw a person on Faerie offering advise or materials to help people along. It was all just people sitting AFK in Foundation or being toxic in shout chat.

    Very glad they addressed this.
I didn't see the point in making the progress server-based if other servers were allowed to contribute by actively preventing the home server from even participating.

Same. I never saw anyone doing that on Jenova either.

"Entitled to other world's free labour"? Is this a joke? You may have helped (I'm doubtful, but I have no way to confirm this either way, so benefit of the doubt applied) but the vast majority did NOT. The firmament would always start filling up with wanderers when the bar was already full, as it got closer to the FATE popping. This is the case for every server, even on JP, as has been mentioned many, many times. To even claim otherwise at this point is just being willfully ignorant of the situation, and SE clearly has the data to back this, otherwise they wouldn't bother implementing the restriction in the first place.

To those claiming things have slowed down as a result of this change; they haven't. As a reminder, later steps take longer to progress to the next stage by design. If, at some point, SE checks their data and sees some servers are struggling, they'll take the necessary steps. Everything I've seen so far though says the lower pop servers, much like the higher pop ones, want to complete this at their own pace. Once again, I say - good riddance. I'll continue to farm and craft as needed, without having to worry about getting back in time to beat the wanderer invasion.

Malboro just had their fate. It was seriously a fantastic atmosphere, with a bunch of people cheering for the server. What an experience!

Thank you so much for the change, and having the server have some sort of "pride" again. It was seriously one of the most fun experiences I had in this game in such a long time,

I actually think this sort of aggressive mentality is more of the problem. You're not the only one who had to deal with congestion. Let me repeat, I was also displaced by people swarming.

There was absolutely a problem with people abusing the system, and it needed to be addressed. I think the team is doing the best they can. I just think it's unfortunate that this is how it was handled. I'm seeing concerns from players on small pop servers about the pace they're progressing. I'm gathering supplies to relay, but it's not going to help with the speed of their turn in's when they lack the numbers.

Direct your anger elsewhere, like where it should be directed (at players who were mooching) it's not an unreasonable request. If you consider that whining I'm not sure what to tell you. If you want to have a conversation, there are more respectful ways to do it. If it pleases you more to get angry at some rando expressing a differing opinion/their own experience, go off then.

Hey that's awesome! Jenova will have a fate this evening after I get off work (assuming the timing remains about the same) and I'm really looking forward to experiencing that too!

If you want to stand outside the Firmament and had out advice, good. All the power to you. You still get to.

But guess what....a vast majority of wanderers were taking our slots.

This is a change for the better. It should have been this way from the start.
You're still gonna have to camp, though. If I remember correctly, an instance can hold up a max of 300 players. So unless your world doesn't have that amount of players interested, you're gonna get locked out at the FATE time if you don't show up early. So the issue wasn't "wanderers taking our slots" it was "instance can only hold X amount of players".

Also, camping for 2hrs is too long. I did the FATE on lots of worlds by just showing up an hour before the FATE time.

I am, actually, for what it's worth. I'm part of the Discord that's helping players try to pool resources and communicate. I'm doing what I can, not just being facetious. I actually saw a very good suggestion on the server from last night (or this morning), that they could put a collectibles turn in NPC outside the instance. I thought that was a good idea as a means to let wanderers help out more directly.

I didn't hit up Faerie myself. I stuck to Cactuar, then was on Jenova for a little, and settled in on Siren (most of my time was spent gathering materials and doing turn in's), but aside from one guy condescendingly trying to sell materials directly I saw several people in Shout chat asking for supplies and being answered, people handing out crafting/gathering food buffs, and other things like that. Maybe you were just in the wrong place at the wrong time?

I'm not sure why they elected to go this route as opposed to simply adding more instances. Perhaps it has to do with their ability to spawn the same fate in multiple instances at the same time. I really don't know. I personally love the banter when wanderers are around but the issue of overcrowding and locking home people out needed to be addressed. I'm just not sure this was the best way to handle it.
