Doomtrain in FFXIV!

So...you are correct that Phantom Train and Doomtrain are not the same, but you are technically not correct that it is not already in the game. Doomtrain is the English name, but its original Japanese name is Glasya-Labolas, who is a boss in Syrcus Tower.

Not that they couldn't still add Doomtrain of course, we already have multiple Titans and other things from different games that were originally just different versions of the same character. Just thought I'd throw out that factoid.

I still want Doomtrain as well. I loved the nod during the Rising years back and have been anticipating actual representation at some point.

Yeah, Titan was the first thing I was thinking of with this. His name is spelled "Teitan" rather than "Taitan" in FF3's Japanese version, and the reason he was named Acheron and then Phlegethon in XIV was to differentiate that he's different from XIV's Primal, Titan. Funny that this name controversy could once again be linked to FF3.

This could play out the opposite way. They keep the "Doomtrain" name for the English version of the game, and the Japanese version can be "Duumutorein" in Katakana. Whatever its name in Japanese, their regional players will still recognize it as their FFVIII'S Glasya Labolas, not unlike how we recognize Phlegethon as FF3's Titan.
