So then that begs the question: Why does it have to be okay? The Shared FATE system is just a vehicle for bicolor gemstones. Some other buyables open up at rank 3, but the grind to get there is absurd. I think the original intention was that you'd be working on that over the course of the entire expansion. However, that just isn't how MMO players work.
I doubt very sincerely that SE wants "FATEs to fall by the wayside forever" because that doesn't make any sense. The FATE system is fine. It does its job. What it does not do is provide evergreen content for the rest of time. Eventually you're going to be done... whether because you've leveled everything or because you have no further need of bicolor gemstones.. or some combination of the two. Eventually the usefulness of FATEs will diminish for your own purposes. That has to be ok.
You're looking at it strictly as leveling and bicolor gemstones.
So why does that have to be it?
Why can't there be an added bonus for doing it at max level? Even bicolor gemstones can always have a use as long as materia can be bought, so why not increase the amount given at max level to make the time spent buying those equivalent to how you can obtain them from other avenues?
You've basically only said that it doesn't need to be anything more than what it is, without explaining why you think leaving them almost entirely useless is okay.
But they're not useless. They're just useless to YOU.You're looking at it strictly as leveling and bicolor gemstones.

Let me ask you this instead.. how often do you do guildhest roulette? Be honest.
It's ok for you to outgrow content. There's plenty of other content for you to do... you're not going to be bored.
The difference between FATEs and guildhests are that guildhests were completely abandoned ages ago, while FATEs still continue to be added to the game. Also arguably, guildhests aren't even worth doing to beginwith. If there was actual incentive to do guildhests, I'd do those too.
And calling FATEs useless was a mistake on my part. They are not useless, but rather there is little value in doing them at level cap. They still have their use, because consumable materials can be purchased be it crafting materials or materia, and hopefully this will continue to be the case as they add / tweak / whatever they plan on doing to the shared FATE system. FATEs also give me a reason to be out in the world. I despise sitting around town for any length of time, so they have that value for me.
Outgrowing the zones that they made seems almost criminal given the multiple spectacular things about them. I'd love more reasons to go back and hang out in some zones instead of them sitting lifeless. But that's a discussion for a different topic that I already made.
instead of being afk while waiting for your expert roulette pop, how about you go do fates instead while waiting it to pop?The difference between FATEs and guildhests are that guildhests were completely abandoned ages ago, while FATEs still continue to be added to the game.
