My favorite thing about returning to the game when there's a new 24 man raid with a highly desired cosmetic item is that most people know the place like the back of their hand within the first few days, and i have had 0 issues running it so far, as opposed to every other 24 man raid that has ever been made.

World of Darkness 1st boss? How do i alternate sides when there's only two colors to pay attention to.
Void Ark plant boss? Kill the bees? Nah.
Rabanastre 2nd boss? Good god, People couldn't figure out how to side step the mechanics

LOL. I just chalked the lack of trouble I've had up to the Nier raid just being more forgiving but maybe that's part of it too. Even day 1 I haven't had a single run where we wiped more than twice on a boss, and more often than not we one shot everything even if a couple healer lb 3s have to go out now and then.

I also find it's a lot harder to get into an inprogress run here than normal, perhaps because not many people are quitting before the end because they want that 2b coffer.

Welp, just had one of those Glare spamming refuse to heal WHM in The Copied Factory. The only time they did any single target healing whatsoever was to heal themselves, and AoE healing was the bare minimum and only if the mechanics normally required it like with unavoidable AoE damage. It almost felt like they were on some personal high horse crusade and refusing to heal avoidable damage. The AST in the party was newer too (their HP was only about 70k) and while they were putting in a little more effort they were dead a fair bit or dealing with keeping themselves alive and figuring out mechanics. Even the tank died a few times due to a simple lack of single target heals being applied from that WHM. Like people would be sitting at 20% hp for 5-8 GCD with no incoming healing at all even all stacked up. The other two alliances ended up being the ones to Raise members of our party most of the time if I happened to be down. After the first boss when it became clear that incoming heals were just not going to happen, and Raises were incredibly slow and reliant on other alliances I ended up just healing myself anytime I got hit because then at least I would be up and doing damage.

I did get to feel a bit of Schadenfreude, though, since the whole time that WHM was talking about this being their 8th run to try and get the healer coat. It didn't drop this run either, nor did they get any loot from the final chests at all. Small pleasures.

That is when you vote to kick. Seriously, the guy will keep doing it as long as he isn't punished. Everyone should be kicking idiots like this until it gets through their thick skulls that their bullshit won't be tolerated by anyone.

So today a thing happened. A thing that hasn't happened since... I think HW?

Was running Expert and finally, FINALLY got Cosmos. Its a good group. I get a little behind when the tank pulls both of the first rooms but once I see that this is how things are, I catch up and it's fine. The bottom falls out of my damage a bit on the first boss because I'm still a little ehh on the safe spots but he dies fairly quickly and we go on our way.

Second boss rolls up. I notice a distinct lack of seed moving. Myself and the Healer are running for them (sorry I stole your first one T-T). And I think the Tank gets one too but I don't really see the SMN going for them and sure enough, on the second pass two of the adds spawn. We kill them and finish them off, and away we go.

As we run to the last boss, the SMN says something to the effect that 'you need to go back to the drawing board, BLM buddy'.

OK. So I'm already triggered because said player (who's avatar is female) assumes I'm male (my avatar is ALSO female) because of course all gamers are men. :/

Also, I'm pretty sure I'm using a variant of one of the current lvl 80 rotations (without Sharp or Pots--the only Pot I use is ethers for extended Flare) and yeah it's probably a little sloppy because I'm looking at gear. I haven't seen all the Worg stuff and some of it is actually pretty glam-worthy. But considering the dungeon is proceeding at a steady clip, I'm pretty taken aback.

When I respond (literally, I just typed 'what?'), I am then told that I do not grasp the fundamentals of my job--which, having played since HW when cross-class was still a thing as was Enochian Chaining (which was a bit of a different animal then), is a pretty big slap to the face. We proceed and I ask 'how so?' because straight up, some of the best advice/training I've gotten for various classes has been from total dicks so I'm curious as to their reasoning--other than my slightly sloppy rotations of which I am already aware.

Que the final boss. None of the others are chiming in, though they are all from the same server and at least the tank is in the same FC (yeah, I looked you up). I end up dying because I don't put enough space between me and a chandelier but not before the SMN takes out two pieces of furniture with the Boss' cone aoe. They also die because... actually I don't know. I think there wasn't enough furniture, even though I skipped getting targeted by the blue fire the second time because I was dead.

Of course they leave before they can impart any wisdom. The Healer says thanks and the Tank gives me a comm (I give him a comm and a 'gg').

In summation, YOU DON'T GET TO SAY I SUCK THEN IGNORE/BOTCH 2/3 OF THE DUNGEON MECHANICS. I'm sorry but no. I'll accept a call out of sub-par playing but not when you basically killed yourself because of your own dumb-assery. -Just... no.

Buddy in that context isn't referring to any gender...but that is culturally specific I guess. I get a kick out of these stories though. Person eggs on someone about how they play, then they themselves proceed to play like trash in boss fights.

When this happens, I get the urge to tell all DPS to just stay dead as a way of boycotting healers doing this, maybe even get the tanks to join in the boycott as well.

You're the BLM, the 2nd boss seeds can be done by three people. If they were smart, they would do them and let you turret to keep uptime on the boss because, again, you're the blm xD

Also yea, i dont think buddy refers to any kind of gender. Kinda like "Whats up guys" doesnt really assume gender either, or "mate"...why were you so hung up about that anyway? why should you care what they think of your irl gender?

Where I'm from, "Buddy" is always used when speaking to someone you perceive as male and the context is always a condescending, faux friendliness. E.g. Thanks for stopping in the doorway, buddy." I've never seen it used when the person is perceived as female; instead, women tend to get the other more direct b word that isn't coated in a veneer of friendliness.

I suppose it depends on the eye of the beholder, however, in this context, it functions as sarcasm to me more so than assuming, so with her taking it in such a way that she did and feeling all the rest of the undertones to it.. therein lies the resulting reaction. With this community however (except on these forums because yall just say any ol' thing without regard, so I just follow suit), egg shell walking reigns supreme.

While refusing to res and not healing the tank are big red flags, I'll happily let the group sit at 20% if theres no incoming raidwide in the next few gcds. And as for not healing avoidable damage... well, just stop messing up mechanics and it wouldnt be an issue.

Also even if your ast was new, theyre still responsible for healing, too. No spot heals and letting the party sit low is on both of them, not just the WHM.
