You gotta work on your analysis skills man, just by looking at the title of this thread it's evident that OP primarily wanted to be a mentor because they falsely believed it gave them some higher "status" in the game, "now I'm just a crafting mentor". By using just in that way they're trying to say that being a crafting mentor doesn't have much value, it's "lower". And so for that reason, this thread received the appropriate feedback.Every person in this thread who's being all like "you don't need a crown to help people" is completely missing the point, btw.
Just because you think having mentor status is 100% about Helping People doesn't mean everyone else sees it the same way. Whether you agree with them doing it or not, SE put other incentives into the mentor system, and there are people whose primary interest is getting those incentives. That's just how it is sometimes with obtainable things in video games.
That crown is about helping people who may not know as much as you so they can better enjoy the game and feel part of a community. It's voluntary and given a neat little bonus as way of a thank you from the devs. And by your crap attitude it sounds like you never actually cared about helping people. Because you don't NEED that crown to go out of your way to help people. You just want it because you can treat it like a status symbol that not everyone can have.SE would grandfather in almost anything else but you don't grandfather us mentors. I am going to keep this short. You don't respect how much time and effort I have put into the game so far. You don't respect that I have been a mentor for over 2 years. Then you don't need my $30.00 a month. Maybe you will respect that.
You seem like the type who would turn away a beggar and tell them to only seek your help at the soup kitchen where other people can see how kind and generous you are. Mentors like you are why so many people groan when they see you show up in their parties.

You sure it was not because the people were all premade?I make plenty of comms as DPS - I once received 7 comms as BRD when running a 24-man because I was helpful and kept my pt laughing. I don't think being a "UwU Kaaawaiii gamer gurl" has anything to do with it.
You're not going to gel with every party, and that's fine - but from experience, just being helpful, light-hearted, and skilled will net you enough comms.
Life is a journey, not a destination. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a means

Are you seriously unsubbing over a stupid crown...?

My post wasn't talking about the OP, it was specifically talking about certain people responding to it. Specifically, every single person that said something along the lines of "you don't need to be a mentor to help people". Every one of these people is missing the point. You gotta work on your analysis skills man, just by looking at the title of this thread it's evident that OP primarily wanted to be a mentor because they falsely believed it gave them some higher "status" in the game, "now I'm just a crafting mentor". I'm not trying to defend the OP at all (I've even already said I don't think he's making a good case for himself), in any sense other than I don't think commendations are a good metric for determining mentorship. I say this as someone that has almost 5k of them, so it's not like I have a personal stake in this race.

I'm not trying for Mentor but I tend to keep track of things and I have had 88 comms for 3 months, maybe longer. I average at least 5 a day from roulette alone but they aren't going to the count in reputation. If this is common, good luck to anyone trying to get that 1500 comms.
