How would you propose they fix the ping issue? I have high ping because I'm 100s of miles from the datacenter, not from any fault of SEs. I appreciate them making NIN playable for me.
- Categorize Mudras alike to the GCD, as presently the case, but do not have them incur global recast penalty from other global recast actions, similarly to HW-era Empyreal Arrow.
- Give Ninjutsu a shorter global recast cost.
Done. Very nearly the old Ninja apm, but with ping-compensation.
How would I fix it?
I'd probably do exactly what they did. But that doesn't necessarily mean there weren't other options and that I'm not sympathetic to old NIN players.
Regardless, don't mistake my speculation for criticism. I personally like the changes they've made because, like you, I can actually play the job now.

This is basically where I am at. I loved the high APM of NIN, but all of the botched openers I encountered because an input did not register drove me absolutely crazy. It is far more playable for me now, and more enjoyable as a result of that. I would love for the higher APM/eccentric NIN to work in the same way, but it just didn't. Previous mudra system was never harmonious with the GCD, and they worked against each other; making NIN one of the clunkiest jobs in the game.
If there are two numbers I really wish I could see from previous NIN to this one, is how much my pDPS has gone up, and how much my GCD clipping has gone down. The mudra charges are also godsend in content previous to gaining Huton refreshers. I love taking my NIN into roulettes because of this change alone.
