They could also add a cast timer to Egi Assault where you write in the book for 2.5 seconds.

Nope. That would be absolutely terrible, and brings more problems.
Also they should just nerf the DoTs back instead, better if they outright remove them instead and then buff the pet damage but some people like the DoTs on SMN apparently.
