Ugh, leveling DPS at the moment can’t wait to go back to tanking. Tired of slow tanks. You can pull more than one add you know. The healer was able to do our taxes.

Last night in LOTA I mentioned to our tank that he should be pulling the adds to the platform for the 4 people there to kill them and not tanking the boss. He got all hot and bothered and had a couple friends with him trying and defend the fact that he didn't have a clue how to tank the duty. We didn't wipe was he big response. Gets pretty old seeing duty after duty with tanks who really don't know the mechanics. It's expected I suppose but at least listen to those trying to help.

Just curious how did you mention it to him? What was the wording?Last night in LOTA I mentioned to our tank that he should be pulling the adds to the platform for the 4 people there to kill them and not tanking the boss. He got all hot and bothered and had a couple friends with him trying and defend the fact that he didn't have a clue how to tank the duty. We didn't wipe was he big response. I've ran into one new group who did. Had to explain to them what the mechanics are. Even showed them how I used Provoke and Shield Lob over and over and couldn't grab the mob's attention, even with my dot as red.
There's been a massive spike of the number of bad players in general since just before 5.0 dropped. Something that I never saw with the HW or SB expansions.
My best guess is that SE has been running a very successful ad campaign to attract new, first-time MMO gamers. People who basically have no idea how the Trinity works nor do they have prior experience from other games to ease them into the various roles. It's great to see so much fresh blood in a 6-year old MMO, but it can be frustrating at times.

A bit of a story.
While i was leveling my SMN i leveled one set of Trusts to 80. And i thought, hey, let's level the other 3. I already have DRK at 80, so i decided to pick up another tank, so not to run dungeons over and over for no reason, other than leveling NPCs. And i picked GNB, since it starts at 60. Class unlocked, yay. "Here's 2 hotbars worth of abilities, figure it out yourself" said the game and that's pretty much it. I got my old Augmented Shire set, and then went to figure out how the class works. Basic combo, cartridge system, what abilities do, etc etc. So, yeah, that's likely a factor.
Sometimes rumors are just... rumors.

It goes both ways. When I got WAR and DRK to 70, I've had healers either undergeared, watching netflix, or both. Even if I didn't pull wall to wall, and when I do pull large waves of trash mobs the DPS struggle, and I mean struggle to whittle them down. Could be bad luck, but I avoided HoH until PLD, and I only got so far because HoH is boring, and moreso playing as PLD. This is why tank anxiety is a thing, that sprout guild in the major cities often goes ignored and squadrons are PERFECT for beginners but required so much time spent with Grand Companies to unlock. I feel like they oughtta make it a mandatory tutorial when the reach a certain level, since the gamers of today are accustomed to near every game have a tutorial level to guide them somewhat.
I've been on both ends of this whole situation, and anecdotal as it is, the tank role is very much a shoot first ask questions later environment. the in game community is often silent, but if you are under performing as a TANK? it's so very rarely polite. or nice. DPS get alot of passes, but not tanks. Or healers. but this is about tanks. and..... y'all can get nasty when tanks are involved- just read some of these posts.
GNB being released hasnt helped in this regard. at all. heaven forbid you have a level 60 GNB and its your only tank with the coffer gear; you are going to get torn APART and mocked on top. how very welcoming to your first tanking experience.
So. Questions for those of you that are tired of terrible tanks and think this is an epidemic that needs to be wiped from the face of the game;
How do you treat these tanks?
Is it a silent tolerance?
Is is a vocal attack?
Is it a polite pressing of the matter?
Is there advice given? attempted?
Is there an immediate kick without words exchanged?
Do they attack back?
Are they silent?

I play all of the roles, most recently, I am leveling my new love - Scholar. I made a macro to tell tanks at the start of a Dungeon to use Arm's length for pulls on CD for the slow effect, and also for Phys Ranged to use Troubador/etc... in pulls for mitigation.
You can't get a better community unless you try every time. A lot of times ppl won't bother, but for the few that do, it'll start to make it a little better for tanking and such.
