I'm not sure what you're getting at considering we've visited or seen in cutscenes multiple societies past and present with technology far superior to our own, two of which had computers, robots, flying machines with guns, and cloning. One of those even has USB drives and MADE their own moon. This game was never pure fantasy, not even in 1.0.

I'm not sure what you're getting at considering we've visited or seen in cutscenes multiple societies past and present with technology far superior to our own, two of which had computers, robots, flying machines with guns, and cloning. One of those even has USB drives and MADE their own moon. This game was never pure fantasy, not even in 1.0.

To top it off, SE does not copy paste 100% scenarios from other games onto this one and calls it a day. They take multiple elements from one, discard some, then retrofit for FF14. How is it that up to this day, people who've been playing these alliance raids for a long time still don't know this is mind boggling.

Yes, the setting made up of a foundation of every FF out there in a theme park mmo. Did you conveniently forget all of Praetorium? You do know there's a bit of the peak of Mt. Gulg that's near identical to Nier Automata, right? Amaurot must have been a real cringe fest for you. Being so out of place from [insert ARR city state here.]

Let's also not forget much of Coil, Aetherochemical Research Facility, Fractal Continuum (twice), Baelsar's Wall, Alexander (also a big part of 5.1), Castrum Abania and the Twinning. All at least as high tech looking, if not more so, than Nier stuff. Plus players running around in the Scaeven/Ironworks sets and three Allagan sets.

Honestly Nier seems a really weird place to draw the line seeing as this game has gone a lot further already.

Ok, then can we have the next Raid based on Square Enix's Tomb Raider series? How about Deus Ex or Marvel's Avengers? If no then why not? Where is the line between what is fandom and what actually belongs in a Final Fantasy game?

Well, we already have guns and jumping puzzles, etc. Throw in a T-rex or two as raid bosses, then sure, we can have a Tomb Raider-based raid.

I don't know about Deus Ex, but Marvel stories have so many different universes, they can definitely make a cross over with FFXIV if they're willing to put in the work to flesh out the lore.

It's Final Fantasy! I say no limit to your fantasy! What belongs in a Final Fantasy game is whatever the developer decides to put in a Final Fantasy game and make it work with their world.
