Myste gets bored and resurrects him for us to fight but all he says is stuff like 'remember us' and 'I'd really just like to take a nap' and 'are we really doing this again, [name]' while absolutely curb-stomping us with his giant Underworld hands.
He was cool for his time but I'd leave him dead and move on, I'm more interested in Zenos potentially absorbing hydelyn or zodiark and who these warriors or warrior of light elidibus wants to send after us
Plus elidibus been around since 2.1 so I'm really interested to see what there gonna do when he's the focused Asian, lahabrea and emet are cool but I was always more intrigued by elidibus.
Emet-Selch and Hythlodaeus for Amaurot flashbacks, please and thank you.
That's the most I want to see of Emet going forward. I loved him but he had his time and it would ruin a really great ending if he came back.
Now I want to see more of Elidibus. He's been around for years but we barely know about him, so I hope he gets fleshed out to Emet's level.
The most I expect to see Emet-Selch again is from the memories of the Original Soul back when he was still friends with the Original Soul, before the events of the Original Calamity, and before he got temper by Zodiark.
It would get a good glimps into what he was like, and all the other Ascians as well, before the entire Original Calamity and Zodiark influence over him while also showing us the events that lead to the Original Calamity and what role did the Original Soul has in these events.
Rampanttrollingspeculation would include the possibility that we will see Emet-Selch walking around and be very surprised, and then a couple of patches later we learn that it was actually one of Emet-Selch's Solus Galvus clone bodies.
Even more surprise if we learn that this clone body is being piloted by Varis, who Resonanted himself into that body because he was still salty about Solus telling him that his "body" was somehow disappointing.
(It's not going to happen.)

What is extremely unfortunate about the death of Emet is that he was the strongest representation of the will of Zodiark and the conflict between him and Hydaelyn. However, his sole purpose as a villain was to inform us of this perpetual state of affairs between what is basically a star with multiple personality disorder wherein only one will can occupy the mind at any given time; and Hydaelyn has no plans of resting her control as doing so means countless deaths across the remaining shards. At the very least, I would be very happy that the dev team had a clear goal with Emet that was accomplished, and they succeeded in creating an absolutely wonderful antagonist.
He has definitely set the bar for FFXIV villains, but beating out legends like Golbez and Kefka is a serious subject for debate. However, even as a stand-alone, Emet is a very, very well written character.
