Have you even played most of the classes? I’m looking at your Lodestone, and you are still a Conjurer at level 57. You should have picked up a job stone for White Mage at level 30. That’s one reason you probably find things boring—CNJ stops getting skills at level 50, and WHM gives you more skills to play around with.
That said, I don’t think you can really judge any of the classes considering it doesn’t appear that you’ve actually played any of them—unless you have alts floating around that have actually leveled any of the other 16 jobs.
You know you can turn off the flashy effects of player attacks, right? Character Config > Character Configuration > Character tab. Scroll down to Battle Effects Settings: you’re allowed to pick “Show All”, “Show Limited”, and “Show None”. Personally, I prefer to keep myself on “Show All” and everyone else on “Show Limited” (party members only) and “Show None” (non-party members).
That said, I do find it a bit contradictory that you’re complaining about how flashy everything is on one hand—and then complaining that nothing is impactful... But considering you’re missing half of your toolkit—and considering that you haven’t gotten to SB or ShB levels to learn those skills—its no wonder you haven’t found any impactful skills yet. The lower levels have been pruned repeatedly since SB.
??? There are ranged mobs literally in the very first dungeon (Sastasha): the archers before the last boss are all ranged. The reason you probably don’t notice them in dungeons that often is because tanks gather the mobs and move them towards the ranged mobs that refuse to move. This is so the DPS can AOE the entire trash pack. In the overworld, the Roselets in Central Shroud are ranged: they’re a level 10 mob. I’d wager you just haven’t been paying attention, considering how much you’ve rushed through everything else.
This is an intentional design. FFXIV 1.0 had level 99 mobs in its overworld, but when they shut it down and redesigned it for A Realm Reborn, Yoshida (the producer/director) said that he wanted to make the overworld more friendly to newer players. That included removing dangerous mobs. That said, low levels that run into an A-rank or an S-rank can get one-shot fairly easily.
When Shadowbringers launched, there were unofficial censes estimating that active characters was over 1,000,000. Even if FFXIV isn’t the most popular MMO out there, it has a very sizable playerbase. Yoshida said that FFXIV’s sub count is the highest its ever been when Shadowbringers was released. It’s in a bit of a lull right now because we’re a few weeks before Patch 5.1 is released—and people tend to take breaks between patches—but it’s still very active. Far more than 100,000 players.
Personally, I think you’d already decided that this game isn’t for you before you even made this thread—which, as I said before is fine; this game isn’t for everyone—but you still came here to rant without the intention to be open to anyone who might be willing to try and change your mind. You just wanted to rant for the sake of ranting—and, quite frankly, you’ve been extremely aggressive in this thread for very little reason. The post above mine where you’re cussing out Hasrat for literally no reason is proof of that.
I don’t think that this game has what you’re looking for, so it may be best if you just stop playing it. Not saying that in any malicious way; but what’s the point in continuing to play a game when you can’t even find one reason to enjoy it?
Btw, the only reason that I keep suggesting you find an FC or make some friends is because you have been complaining about how there’s no necessity to group up with other players. This gave me the impression that you aren’t really into solo play—hence why I told you to go find some people to do group play with. This game can be enjoyed with friends and solo—I play with friends a lot, but I also have alts that I play solo on when I want some me-time—but you have to be willing to find aspects about it to enjoy. And I don’t really think that you’re willing to do that.
