Genuine question for those upset with the new Mentor requirements

Since I only level caster jobs I'll never have the mentor crown. However, I have a linkshell and an fc that I use to help newcomers. I make them their gear and make sure they always have gil to spend. In the linkshell they are welcome to ask for help. We help them with dungeons and whatever questions they may have. The FC is there if they'd like to join for the buffs or the house. It works quite nicely.

Hardly; it all depends on what you actually main. Also who you group with. A dps who runs with their friends obviously isn't going to get a lot of comms.

Which is the whole problem people have with the system, at least as it is. It's full of jerks. There is no reason to put a sprout down in Stone Vigil MSQ who is trying to learn how to heal. We got through the dungeon just fine, but one wipe was enough for this guy to go full try hard on an obviously new player. It's annoying to wipe, especially on the low level duties that really aren't that hard and that you've probably run 1,000 times, but if you're a crown then you are saying you're OK with patience and teaching. If not, take the crown off. I know I'm probably preaching to the choir here, but just giving my opinion to the opinion jar.

I'm getting tired of people saying you could get banned for offering advice. You won't. Offering advice and forcing people to play a certain way or making sarcastic remarks on how someone sucks, are different things. Never have I gotten in problems for helping people, I mostly get thanked, commended, and sometimes ignored. It's fine. Just don't be a jerk about it.

It works out, though. If someone isn't going to offer help because of an easily disprovable rumor, should they really be providing advice?

You are.. but yeah. It needs to be repeated that the current Mentor system is polluted and stressful for it's actual intended patrons.

Behemoth NN isn't so bad. There's occasionally a kick fest, but it's usually just the same 2-3 people each time. Excluding them, the NN is chill and helpful.

comms are mostly about luck, playing as female helps you get comms though.

I mean, it's been a long time since the game started. If you don't have 1500 comms, you're doing something horribly wrong and shouldn't be teaching people in the first place.

Where does this logic come from? I have over 1k posts with usually at least 1 like on a lot of them. Does this make me a community beacon or eligible for light modding? Absolutely not. Buuut I got all those shiny posts and some likes!

Because that's all comms are. Likes. They give no indication of being able to teach.

This will not be a fix all for NN. Which is why I suggest a World Chat here. People can take their Limsa chatter out of the NN and leave it for actual new player help:
