Steam/FF14 issues

If your account is associated via steam (bought the game via steam/have a steam license of FFXIV) then buying regular codes would not help unless you're prepared to abandon your account and start new- as the steam codes and player account are connected now.

Do you get any error or what do you mean by can't do anything when logged in? Like you can see the game, just can't click stuff (it turns on and all, even animates/plays music)? Or is it like a black screen, literally nothing happens?

I don't use the steam version but I've heard some people have issues with the steam overlay and FFXIV, so you could try turning that off: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bomISP9pKnI .

i gotta repatch the entire game and its happened 5 times, so the only thing i know is that steams likes to not remember its downloaded -_-

That sounds very frustrating indeed. I can try to help but I'd need to know more of what's going on, like... You said you have to repatch it to play it- does that mean it wont start suddenly? Are there /any/ error messages?

1. try to play ffxiv
(launcher pops up? black screen? music? what happens?)
2. ????
3. ???
4. ???
5. repatch FFXIV
6. play for a while, then return to step 1?

Don't know what to suggest without more info, and unfortunately I've never personally experienced the issue to be like "ah yeah, that one, this is what you do to fix it".

Which is obviously going to reset some things (so I'd not do it until you've the issue, assuming you can open the launcher even since I'm not sure where your issue begins), may want to back up some stuff with the first tool on that page before using setting reset feature . . . just in case. . . But if you have to redownload the whole game then I imagine trying to reset some stuff first would be easier lol.
