I am arguing from his perspective, in his opinion, there was no reason to kick him i.e. he got kicked for no reason. He has every right to report the incident to the GMs, who will decide if "there was a reason". He is calling it "abuse" from his perspective, not because "they are friends". Whether it was abuse or not is not up to you to decide either, but he has every right to report "as abuse".

You're trying to white-wash the incident as "not abuse" just cause you think the friends "didn't agree to kick him together", or "they just happened to be friends who agreed on an incident", which there could be none.

What is the GM goin to do? Give him back the 20 minutes he lost? It's completely pointless. Plus diference in playstyle is a valid reason, so unless they are dumb enough to say "we kick you because we are trolling" thi will lead to nothing, bu also waste the time of the GM that has to deal with this ticket.

If a party kicks you they kick you, you won't be able to prove any form of abuse unless they're literally admitting it in chat.

What is pointless to you might not be pointless to the OP. I don't think he is looking for compensation. He is looking for justice. Even if the GM just gives those players a stern warning and log it as a minor offense is a good enough reward for him.

I get it that you are trying to be pragmatic here, but given the info as mentioned by the OP, he obviously feels he is being punished unfairly and got trolled by those players. Honestly, if this happened to me, I would probably just shrug it as bad luck to be grouped with those douchebags, but that is because I've been playing MMO and video games for over 15 years to know better to waste my time. But I know how this being troll-kicked feels, especially when sometimes you are standing for what is right (e.g. voicing out "pls don't afk and these bunch of friends just kick you cos they don't like being called out on).

So I say, it's valid enough reason that he obviously feels wronged and he is seeking justice. There is an avenue, use it. Whether anything would be done leave it to the GMs handling it. Even a GM responding to a new player "Hey sorry you had to go through that but I can't find enough evidence blah blah" is a step in the right direction to making him better, and it's the GM's job to deal with this kind of thing. So no, I wouldn't call it a waste of time.

Personally, I think demanding "justice" in such cases is just a euphemism for wanting revenge. It's the equivalent of some random 12 year olds playing a doorbell prank and the person calling the cops on them in response. It doesn't make you look good, just bitter. I reported ones for false kicks and guess what GM banned the one that started the kick. It is very easy for GM to go over the logs and see if the kick was justified if not prepare to be banned or be put in the jail and wait for gm to talk to you.

So from the sounds of it, you and the other two folks were carrying a bunch of dead weight and then the dead weight kicked you? It sucks to get kicked, but it sounds like they did you a favor. Then you could leave that garbage run without penalty.

Oh and next time don't carry them. Start a dance party with the others or something until they get off their asses and participate. Waste their time like they're wasting yours.

Well point is I'm playing this game because it's relaxing and I can have fun and distract myself with no bullying at all, unlike WoW which ambient was terrible.
Heck, votekicks in that game were a "for the lulz", had seen vote kicks pass because "I don't like blood elves" and boom, player gone just like that.
This is the first time it happens to me in FFXIV and it was PTSD triggering.

I just.... this is just a video game, man. Stuff happens, dust off and move on.

Plus what playstyle difference would a group of afk players have with someone actively running the content? Is the supposed 'playstyle' difference actually playing the game and trying to complete the duty versus being afk, which is a legitimate reason to boot a party member?

This feels like an easy to spot abuse of the kick function.

I mean, I'm definitely hopeful that any reports over truly unjustified kicks result in some sort of punishment, but unless you know the person in question or seem them raging in chat then you will likely never know. GMs don't divulge the results of their investigations. In the few times I've had to contact a GM over various issues they've been nothing but friendly and want as much information as possible, so I'd like to think that they do a decent job when the need arises.

Both is not right.

First, we are all supposed to get along. We team up for a duty to kill enemies, often waiting 30 minutes. Then you are in duty for 25 minutes. That is almost 1 hour to get something done and zap, the game fades to black and loads you back into the city. "You have been expelled from the party". Unjustified.. And your analogy is a bell prank that takes you not even 30 seconds to be over with?

The second thing is: It is not revenge. What is this way of thinking? The first offender is the "better" one, because the other one is just "bitter" and does not "look good"? Huh?

I would report anything that is fishy. I am not a toilet brush in a public restroom and absorp all the sh*t thrown at me, I am here and I also have rights.
