I did, and got a nice reply from the GMs supporting me emotionally.
That was nice for a change.
I hope I don't go through this again, and I hope most whoever did this at least gets a warning so they NEVER do that again.

It's a reflection of the type of people they are, not a reflection of you. Don't let it get you down.

What happened is definitely the exception. There's always a chance it will happen again since the internet is filled with jerks but it will be rare.

Better to leave a group with people like that in it than to stay and help them get what they want as they abuse the system.

A couple of weeks ago I was in a MSQ roulette in Praetorium. Four players from a specific server were AFK all the way up to the Magitek armor and when a couple of us commented on that thinking we should kick them, a 5th player from the same server said "we don't care, we're from the same FC so you should think about that". Obviously the group had queued specifically to mess with people so I abandoned the group once we got out of the armor rather than risk wasting more of my time carrying their AFK bodies just to get votekicked at the end. Hopefully the other two in the party also left the group once I gave them the free pass out.

Fortunately, that sort of thing tends to be very isolated. Maybe the OP ran into the same group of bads I did (we're on the same data center).

Possibly but I was at the point I wanted to get out as fast as possible instead of wasting more of my time.

I'm also used to the years I played WoW, where the official stance was non-participation wasn't against the game rules though players were allowed to vote kick for it if they wanted. Doubt Blizzard has ever changed that stance. Reporting that sort of thing was a waste of time there and so I don't think to do it here.

For Blizzard it is more than okay to abuse the votekick system.
People could make a group of 4, making you the 5th stranger, and they could force you to do or say any sort of irrational stuff otherwise they'd kick you and it would be 100% valid in Blizzard eyes.
There's a reason why that game is such a toxic cesspool.

You should be able to report what you believe is abuse of the vote kick system.

There is no abuse. If more people vote they want you removed than people vote they dont want you removed, you get removed. If they happen to be friends, that's just bad luck.

Easy fix: Make it so that premade parties only count as 1 voice.

abuse: use (something) to bad effect or for a bad purpose; misuse.

The abuse is because he was kicked for no reason; i.e. the "kick system" was misused for a bad purpose. Don't change the rationale for why it is called abuse, that is just your strawman argument.

There is a difference between "there is no reason" and "he doesn't know the reason" :^) And friends are more likely to go with the opinion of their friends, so if they're indecisive about kicking that dude or not, their friend voting "yes" can be the deciding factor. Still no abuse in sight.

I am arguing from his perspective, in his opinion, there was no reason to kick him i.e. he got kicked for no reason. He has every right to report the incident to the GMs, who will decide if "there was a reason". He is calling it "abuse" from his perspective, not because "they are friends". Whether it was abuse or not is not up to you to decide either, but he has every right to report "as abuse".

You're trying to white-wash the incident as "not abuse" just cause you think the friends "didn't agree to kick him together", or "they just happened to be friends who agreed on an incident", which there could be none.
