I’ll never, truly understand how anyone can do the mental gymnastics required to fool themselves into wanting “limited” anything. By its very definition, limited means LESS than what we COULD have, less fun, less playability, less everything in the long run.

EQ did some cool stuff with monster missions. You could use a 'shroud' to turn yourself into a monster, gain a few abilities based on the monster you picked, and run some tasks with them, leveling the shroud up. When you hit different milestones, it let you use the shroud other places, unlock new abilities, and unlock some skins. You couldnt take them into actual content, but they were still an interesting bit of side content that people did until the concept was largely abandoned.

It was kind of a neat niche thing at first, but after a while it began to feel like a let down.

I feel somewhat optimistic at the prospect of having a Level 70 Blue Mage, since that'll be able to do a decent amount of content, though that'll be at the point where every other Job is 90, so you'd have to gimp yourself to even be using that.
