How about they make the current Limited Job not a complete laughing stock that died within a week before we start asking for more? And if they can't, well... better to move on entirely.

"Stand in the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters."
"The silence is your answer."
Pretty much this with BLU. The dev's need to figure out what they want it to be because right now it lacks vision. Either it's supposed to be this overpowered limited job than can absolutely wreck old, outdated content or tone it down and balance it for group play.
Because right now it's in limbo between the two. So many bosses are immune to most of their statuses (but would hit you as a player 100% of the time) and so many attacks are just carbon copies of each other with a different element (which ultimately doesn't matter at all).
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
It's not designed for party and endgame play, but it's not solo-oriented either. In fact, I remember lvling BLU as being very social with all the spell hunting. The solo part of the job is in reference to its unique content, the Masked Carnival. Where you do challenges by yourself with the spells you've learned. Of course you can go the extra mile and do things at lvl 50 that no other job at that lvl can. Mr Happy soloed some of the early Coil fights and Ifrit hard mode using BLU.If you are saying, not all jobs or content have to be connected to raids, I agree with that. You mentioned FFXI, BST was a shinning example of a job that was pretty much a "Limited job" before FFXIV even came into existence. I feel like, not a lot of people may not have played BST, otherwise, they would see that this limited job concept was actually a thing at SE as far back as 2002-ish.
Solo oriented jobs are good to have. I mean, having a thread titled "Tales from the Duty Finder" which pretty much insults the FFXIV populace is not the most inviting thing for new players lol. maybe some folks want to get away from the drama, kick back & relax, doing things at their own leisure.
I think there is a place for solo jobs. Again, I have not played with limited jobs, but from my understanding, it is solo oriented, correct? if so, there is a place for solo jobs, done correctly. Keyword...
I think BLU leans more towards a collectible job with some solo aspects rather than the lone wolf idea that BST accidentally ended up with. Doesn't mean BLU can't fulfill a niche, it just won't be a solo OP powerhouse that a lot of people assumed.
Limited Jobs are, and always will be, a bad system. It will be a cold day in hell if they ever announce another.
BLU was not only a terrible class, but also an absolute slap in the face to all the Blue Mage fans out there, being told you can't have your favourite class because its "Too OP", whilst simultaneously not making it OP outside of very niche scenarios. From the interviews Ive read from yoshi P I think he only really understands how BLU was in FFXI, which is not how it was in the other games, where BLU was heavily leaning into a party support role with some damaging magic sprinkled in, a role it physically cannot fulfill in its xiv varient

Yeah instead of a fun fully usuable job give me a job that gets boring after 2 days if not 2 hours *cough* Blu and which I can take into content that bored me 3 years ago already![]()
Awkward as it might sound, the BLU update is probably the thing I'm looking forward to most in 5.1 aside from the MSQ.
I'm not getting my hopes up about the restoration until they announce more about how the ranking system is going to work.
I was not against the idea, in fact I was quite open to it, but it needs to have content to make it work. Carnivale isn't enough.
The feedback I gave when it came out was to use Blue Mage to revitalise old content with an incentive to do it. Like, they required us to do old ex fights, but it was just easier to undersized. If they boosted the spell drop rate for synced parties, that'd be one small change that'd help.
Add some endgame rewards too and it'd give more options for people to gear. Maybe throw in a Limited Job roulette (any job can join, however, the point is that limited jobs are welcome). Maybe even give room for running old raids like Coils.
Arguably these would be very small changes that could make things a lot better. Because there's technically a lot of content available, it's just stuff nobody really does anymore or are hidden behind roulettes/DF stuff limited jobs cannot access.
I look forward to them since subreddits like ShitpostXIV have an absolute field day with them.
Limited jobs were a mistake. Dead on arrival.
