    I think you are. I've been level 50 for over a month now and just got around to doing the MSQ because I was busy with:

    * Beast Tribe Quests/Maxing all my Beast Tribe reps
    * Leveling my crafting
    * Leveling my gathering
    * Bringing all of my jobs up to 50 so that I can desynthesize/convert my old gear without worries
    * Clearing my hunt logs on all my classes
    * Maxing my Grand Company rank
    * Doing the hunt bills for alliance seals that I'm using to buy increased mount speed in all the areas

    I admit that there is too much MSQ at level 50 and that it can get tiring, but there is certainly plenty to do.

    This is another kind of design which I feel should be coming to the end of an era - the era of questing type of leveling progression in mmos which peppers maps with quest icons. I've come across so many people who dislike questing and only reluctantly do the ones that are necessary to unlock content. The majority of people on my friend list are like that.

    I think an alternative should be an expanded in-game content guide tool which directs you to areas of interest and things you've not yet completed, but not in an overbearing way. You can opt in/out of tracking for certain content like world bosses, npcs who need help, temporary events. Quest chains should be focused on quality over quantity; no filler ones existing only for exp purposes. Instead the content that rewards exp should be focused on longevity / replayability imo. Deep dungeon is the best example in xiv of something that diverges from linear scripted design; I think that design principle should be more of a norm than an exception.

    I don't have any issues with leveling in the game currently. I'll admit; it was a bit slow in the beginning since where were only a few ways you can level. Since the start of the game until now they've provided far more options and have made it easier to do so. If you're looking for getting out into the world hunt marks are a great way to explore the game, as well as earn EXP, gil, and seals. As mentioned before, Palace of the Dead and Heaven on High provide alternative options. If you get a good group you can rake up EXP like crazy. One of the old school ways is FATE grinding, especially in Shadowbringers since they created Bicolor Gemstones. It's all a matter of figuring out which way is more enjoyable.

    That's essentially saying the same thing. You have time you've allocated to play FFXIV, and you think the amount of reading and traveling there is to do is not giving you room to do things you'd rather be doing.

    There's nothing wrong with that, but I don't take that view as I think reading and traveling is part of engaging with the content and thus being involved in it (at least for the first playthrough).

    Again, you're in control of how you spend your time, but the game is what it is.

    Do you not do your roulettes? You can unlock all the extra dungeons on the way, there is no reason to just rush the main story if that's not what you want to do, there is plenty of battle content on the way to 80. Sure, it's not the most exciting stuff, but it's battle content. Do your roulettes and then do story.

    The point was that after working all day I would rather do something other than run around on a chicken or read a bunch of text.
    There’s no point trying to voice opinions that oppose most people on this forum. Most of them will just go along with anything that’s added into the game and defend it no matter what, lol. You’re new to FFXIV so I’ll let you know now, that this is a highly defensive and report-happy community. Much different than any mmo community you’ve been in.

    You should be glad there are people who defend the game as there is no point in being in a game forum where no one sees anything worth defending about the game. At least you can still engage with them as opposed to people who are being dismissive like you're trying to be with this post.

    If you're worried about being reported, then I suggest that you may have to think about your approach in dealing with people.

    I'd say that's a plus for this community, most of the time.

    And I would say anyone who is offended or has a need to defend FFXIV for calling a chocobo a chicken has a real issue.
    Nothing wrong with defending a game but there is a difference in defending and being hyper sensitive to any game criticism.
