    Holiday crafting events...

Anyone else wish they would have thanksgiving turkey cook-offs ingame for culinarians, or a haunted house buildathon for the Halloween event? I know they are bringing in the building of ishgard, but it would be nice to bring in events that could help introduce more people to crafting and give them a good boost or head start on them. I think the holiday events would be an easy way to do it as long as they were done right.

I think that a small side event such as the one at Moonfire Faire is the best you can hope for considering the amount of the player base it targets. Even then I just brought from the MB as it needs to be engaging (more dev time). Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see it. Just not at the cost of what they could develop for an event that targets all players. Events are temporary after all.

Only problem with this is that this is a Japanese game, and there would be no reason to celebrate an American only holiday. Just like there will be no 4th of July.
But the other ideas I like! I love crafting events.

Thanksgiving is a holiday that is seen by a small handful of countries within the single digits.
While I can see Japanese holidays being a thing (Ladies Day) as it's a Japanese game I doubt you'll see too much from other representations sadly.

I would, however, like to see crafting events in general.

WoW does it, but it isn't called Thanksgiving or Christmas. It's a "holiday" celebration of the generic sort.

As a BTN I would love to chop down pine trees for everyone's houses.

An Eorzean Harvest Festival would be nice. Doesn't have to be Thanksgiving with Turkey.

We already have a Halloween event, it's called 'All Saints Wake' and usually involves a mysterious circus troupe who are actually monsters in disguise trying to spread terror and fear throughout the citystates, only for their efforts to be hamstrung every time by a mysterious yet benign monster called 'the Great Pumpkin' who wants monsters and the races of people to live in peace. Each year the specifics of the event changes but it always features the Continental Circus and the Great Pumpkin at it's heart (the last few years involved an instanced haunted house that had the same decor as Hauke Manor).

As others have said Thanksgiving is a specifically US holiday whereas this is a Japanese game so the events are either going to be Japan-specific or worldwide in a general sense. Thanksgiving is just too US-centric for SE to bother with I'm afraid.
