The three-way PvP dynamic probably is the bigger problem overall; battle high just makes it even worse at times.

People oft seem like they aren't paying any heed to where people are and who's actually in the lead and will thus blindly pick fights that end up only pushing the first place team further ahead.

In Rival Wings, if I get stomped, it's easier to accept since it just meant my team was inferior. In Frontlines, though, I've had too many situations where we could've taken first but the third place decided to just drag us down with them instead of playing smart and ganging up on the guys in first place. I think they might not realize that reward-wise, second place isn't any better then third so fighting to get into second because it seems like you have no chance of getting first is a bit silly.

The playing for second mentality in Frontlines irritates me to no end and might be my biggest pet peeve of the mode. Even if the team in first has a substantial lead, the number of times the team in third goes after the team in second is baffling. I refuse to believe 250 wolf marks is that big an incentive to make people act that stupid.

The silly thing is that you still get 750 wolf marks in third place if your team gets enough points.

Helping to take down the guys in first will make a game go on longer and thus increase the odds the third place team will hit that point threshold so going after the guys in second is even more counterproductive because of that.

I find it unfair for better players to be able to killed faster, our gear and levels are standardized as they are, but they must always be on the same ground as me no matter how better they are!!

Better players (and better teams) would kill faster anyways (considering most players with highs/fevers tend to do so because they are backed up by pocket healers). What Battle Highs/Fevers do is make it easier for those already killing to kill more. The increased value of Highs/Fevers isn't a good balancing factor because they have already made 20+/40+ points and only lose 10/15 when they die.

I'm not sure what sports you watch but in the ones I do generally every player performs differently.

SE has dumbed down PvP to the point where the skill gap is WAYYYY too small.

I think a lot of people don't realize how the wolf mark scoring works. I never bothered to figure out the breakpoints of each map, but I know they're there. But try explaining that to people without them catching an attitude.

It can also be a spite thing. One match of Shatter we kept having one of Mael's groups focus us down (they were premade). They annoyed us so much that almost all 24 of us Adders focused Mael down, and purposefully let Flames get a huge lead just so we could guarantee that Mael would never win. Basically a "if you want to play this game, fine...we'll make sure you'll never win this match."

After playing more matches, I feel like the intent of battle high was to give a dominant team a fighting chance if the other teams wise up and decide to gang up on them. The key issue is the "if" part, though.

The fact that's there's nothing enforcing how much of a given job type is on each team is another problem as I find the battle highs tend to spiral out of control on those teams that are packing three or more healers in each party which make all but the most vicious attempts at focus-firing futile. Even if your overall DPS output is lower from having more healers the sheer amount of burst a bunch of LB-spamming melee players can put out is a lot more game-changing when they can easily focus down a healer on their own if they're packing battle high.
