While they are at it, they should just monetize our ability to move anywhere. Want to walk around? $10. Want to sprint? $50, but you also get a "free" hairstyle.I am going to suggest one step further to make gil even more worthless. They monetize MB space, venture, and inventory. Lets just monetize instanced housing and sell certain instanced housing items in the mogshop. Want to have umbral static weather 19.99 and not account wide.![]()
People would complain because they cant see the outside of their house. Plus wouldnt this mean they would need to increase the instance server capacity. But more importantly wouldnt instanced housing just be expanded apartments?
Apartments aren't instanced housing. They are open FC rooms. If they were truly instanced housing and not just some knock off of another in game asset don't you think it would have been easier to expand now. They keep throwing the bone out we are going to do X to apartments. It feels just like when someone says let me go to the back and look. It is just a routine both parties play to stay nice and dream.
Nah you'd get an outside zone like many other instanced house MMOs have, so you'd have all the space just in your own area. I think the idea of apartment upgrading to a house is fine, but an instanced house isn't an apartment even if the apartment is expanded (at least when we're considering features and such, sort of a square is a rectangle but a rectangle is not a square). The goal point would be all the same features to access (so fully feature equal, and both improved too~!).
Like I suggested this situation:
Ward Owners (public area): Own the small yard (even the large is small compared to many other mmos), their house interior, and a new instanced zone space (that can be upgraded, unlike the wards which are fixed size).
Instanced Owners (private area): Own an instanced zone, and interior of a house.
Beyond allowing players to upgrade their yard into something larger (without having wards be redesigned every time, basically impossible with our current system) we could also get larger houses (bigger gil sinks!).
Ward owners may lose their small yard if they don't visit, but not their personal zone space and house interior (ensuring wards are used by people who want the public access). Instanced house owners may place their garden and stables in their instanced zone and will have access to that feature just like ward owners (except ward owners could technically hide their gardens and stable in the public area if they wanted for whatever reason).
Now when SE adds a new theme for a zone they don't need to design a sprawling complex, like for example the Azim Steppe platform is almost perfectly ready for a house on top of it. Giving player a blank floating platform with the rest of the zone in the background. Ward users could use this too (in their persona instance). All of the resources SE could remix and reuse that people would love, like imagine having Ramuh's battleground as an option (would need to make the platform larger but w.e lol).
The potential for gil sinks is very high, and the potential for the cash shop even. Like if SE allowed everyone this personal housing space that upgraded greatly, but if you really wanted like a retainer you could buy another (sort of like Rift does). Those new skyboxes and themes of environment could also be a serious investment (but once unlocked you'll get to keep), so you might have that final zone area of Shadowbringers as something crafters could put together via a lot of work and rare materials and sell that on the MB (I think calling them memories would work well for lore, "memory of X" "pristine memory" etc).
Just want to add I don't mean to say the above like it's easy to make, but just that the amount of new customization and options we'd get from an instanced space is insanely high and incredibly fitting (imo) for this type of game and this game's lore- and that ward users could join in on it without being at a loss. The wards wouldn't die unless almost literally no one liked them in the first place (in which case I think the argument that they should have died is fair lol, but I hope they don't and I like to encourage things to happen there like more activities-- even made a thread on some ideas: here).

What a bafflingly poor analogy. Should I be upset every time a seasonal event has "wasted resources" on a glamor that I can't use due to race or gender, or a firework that I'll disregard as annoying inventory clutter? No, because not every event reward is meant to appeal to every person.
That's sort of the point of this game, you know? Lots of different activities and rewards for lots of different types of players? Or are you one of those people who complain about resources being "wasted" on (Gold Saucer / Eureka / Ultimates / crossover events / insert thing you don't like here) too?
If housing means so much to you, you'll find a way to move servers, camp a placard, or "obtain" a free company. If it doesn't, you can make that choice to get an apartment and keep your otherwise comfortable play situation.

Slow your roll. Everything you listed is content available for all players except gender lock. And yes I fall into the camp that opposes gender lock. I clearly stated if not everyone is suppose to have a house. One content limited by your desire to complete and one limited by the Devs. I wouldn't mind that penguin minion from vermillion, not going to happen because no desire to do it. That is my choice and I don't object to that. Also I kind of like the glowy silver sphere mount. It is my fault I don't have it not SE. When you can make that distinction we can talk again.
Also I have a house. It doesn't mean I think the system is good. Or that resources are being properly used. Just because something is good for me, doesn't make it right. Also I don't approve people defending the status quo like it is right.
Just wanted to add this edit. People would not bring up or at least I wouldn't bring up resource allocation. If the dev team uses manpower as a justification for a lot of changes and justifications. The player base then uses resource/manpower as defense mechanism. It is going on in the LL complaint thread. Not enough staff on localization team to do english at same time.

Those people who want houses for everyone will gladly support this idea, why do they need waste time on making gil, searching for place, actually investing their interest when credit card can pay for anything instantly.I am going to suggest one step further to make gil even more worthless. Also, how you can leave friends when world visit exist? Yeah, you cant be in FC, but it's a price for house.
And before someone tells me that won't happen - look how many unique mounts we have in mogstation, people willing to buy anything, especially if it helps to play even more casually.
