The letters are always heavily scripted. They could have always pre-translated everything well ahead of time with images of the slides and just had someone at the show who was working post it on the forums immediately after everything concluded.

Edit: and by “everything” I was just referring to the 5.1 info, i.e. the only stuff we wanted to hear about.

Yes, but WHY is it still Japanese only. After 6 years, and having more non JP subscribers, are we still not important enough?

80-103% of WoW players are Chinese, yet they still do everything in English.

People stick to the language and comfort zones they know.

Quality translations usually follow on pretty quickly.

SE treats it’s NA customers very well compared to most global game operations. How many Blizzcons have been in Shanghai? Let alone Seoul Korea - the country that is the sole reason Blizzard survived the decade between Warcraft 2 and WoW... When was the last time NCSoft showed up for anything for one of ArenaNet’s GW2 events? All NCSOFT does for its NA customers is cancel their games if the home market has dropped off...

We get constant attention and care by SE that goes above and beyond what would be normal.

Do you think the JP community would be fine with that or would they be complaining how it's clearly American bias showing? Considering they have actually accused the dev team of listening to NA more than them in the past, I think we can safely assume they wouldn't appreciate it.

There's more complaining in this thread than there is on the entirety of the Japanese side of the forums.

We pay their bills; we have leeway to be reasonably demanding. That shouldn't be mistaken for lack of appreciation for the service we do get, nor should the presence of that good service somehow invalidate any reasonable demands we may have.

"Square Enix should provide some venue of translation for an announcement on their globally released and maintained game," is not an unreasonable demand. It is probably not something that people should be as worked up over as they are in this thread (on both sides of this argument), but that doesn't make it unreasonable.

Sheesh, already 16 pages about something that should be for a company of that size n reputation n money they have for thei basically most well running game a professional international STANDARD, regardles of where in the world the information is given out, in times of the half worlds basically being able to speak English, its not called for no reason the World Language Number 1, because you make sure with it, that you can do and spread communication and information with and for as many people as possible.
Regardless of what it is, if now hard facts, or just a banter of 4 persons talking with each other, when its exactly that what interests the people the freaking most of all, because IT'S HUMANOUS, IT'S SOCIAL, that people want to be part of a discussion, when things are discussed, that people are interested in, even it are just only jokes and normal chit chat of simply PERSONS you are interested in, that you as a stream watcher WANT TO UNDERSTAND, without being forced to learn first one of the worlds most difficult exotic languages there is, that is Japanese, because western people even can't hardly spell out what these people say out in such an awesome fluity, without sounding like a drunken frog that bites it self with each word onto it's own tongue XD

It should be in a companies most natural interest to inform on such events like the E3, Gamescom here in Germany, TGS, Pax and so on, all those BIG IMPORTANT Gaming Tradefares where the whole Player Community of FF14 all over the world LOOKS ON, by streams via YT, Twitch ect, that these people can understand what they see, and that COMPLETELY, not just only 50% of it.

The most easiest n efficient way to do so, is by using English, I guess by skimming through those 16 pages, that are already 16 pages too much, that show how disrespectful that second half was, that there would have been plenty enough solutions to make sure, that they could have had their natural on the flow conversation in Japanesem while also making sure that non japanese people being interested in what they say, can understand them - and that basically ON THE SAME DAY - not first WEEKS LATER, when the stream is already long long looooooooooooooong OVER

Tell me you aren’t actually that flat of a person... if it’s obvious that a number is not possible then maybe consider its being for the purpose of exaggeration...

Especially in the context of all these folks complaining at how horrible SE treats MA because they have some minor inconvenience which is countered by so much goodwill from SE towards its international audience.

Lol no they're not. Instead of heavily scripted I think you mean they have bullet points to follow. Not an actual word by word script like a Nintendo Direct or E3 reading off a teleprompter. There's been times when Yoshi has gone back on a slide to add something of note or will over-talk in detail.

And who is "we"? There are others in this thread who are quite alright with how things turned out.
